Recap / Fillmore Codename Electric Haircut

Go To

Fillmore and Ingrid's investigation regarding a missing student named Alexis Bixby takes a couple of strange turns. First, it doesn't appear as if Alexis ever actually existed despite her friend insisting she went to X Middle School. Second, Alexis is somehow connected to a devious plot to openly expose every student's email and their most embarrassing secrets for all to read.

This episode includes the following tropes:

  • Acrofatic: Averted, Gladys seems to be this at first but she was faking extra pounds with a well placed pillow.
  • Addled Addict: In a G-rated version, Vallejo is trying to give up hot cocoa with hilarious results.
  • Asian and Nerdy: Yumi.
  • Blackmail: This was behind Alexis’ disappearance.
  • Clique Tour: Yumi complains of the massive cliques found at X Middle School.
  • Easter Egg: During the cafeteria scene, Spinelli from Recess can be seen in the background.
  • Everyone Has Standards: Gladys was horrified when she saw the extent of what Electric Haircut would do, so she opted out under the cover of "moving away," not telling Yumi she was moving to a different neighborhood. Unfortunately, Yumi found out Gladys was Alexis Bixby and blackmailed her into continuing the project.
  • Exact Words: Gladys told Yumi she was moving away, but didn't specify she was moving to a different neighborhood.
  • Formerly Fat: Downplayed. Gladys slimmed down a bit as part of her transformation into Alexis, and used pillows to fake her old size.
  • Give Geeks a Chance: Even after learning her true identity, Gladys' boyfriend from while she was Alexis still likes her.
  • The Glasses Gotta Go: Gladys abandons her glasses for contacts as part of her transformation as Alexis. She later goes back to glasses when she settles on a middle point between her old and new looks.
  • Hollywood Hacking: A nasty computer virus, Electric Haircut, is this having been programmed by a middle school student.
  • Hypocritical Humor: The etiquette teacher Ingrid speaks to clearly doesn't practice what she preaches. She openly laughs at Ingrid's clothes, talks with her mouth full, and belches without saying "Excuse me."
  • Reflective Eyes: Ingrid sees that Gladys is actually playing Tic-Tac-Toe in the reflection of her glasses rather than trying to stop the virus.
  • Sexier Alter Ego: After losing weight, getting contacts, and dying her hair, Alexis Bixby was this for Gladys in another G-rated example.
  • Smart People Wear Glasses: Gladys and Yumi.
  • Title Drop: A rare example, but Electric Haircut refers to a computer virus.
  • Un-person: Aside from a few people knowing that Alexis existed, every other piece of physical evidence had been completely wiped and her image edited out.
