- The Bad Guy Wins: By the end of this episode (and by extension the first season) Rosalind has gotten everything she wanted: she has been released from her imprisonment, she has retaken control of Alfea with the Queen's backing and all opposition within the school has been apparently dealt with, she has manipulated Bloom into tapping directly into the Dragon's Flame and has a clear path to continue molding her into a weapon.
- Bittersweet Ending: Bloom uses her powers to save Alfea from the Burned Ones and reunites with her friends, Sky and Bloom have professed their love for each other, and Sky is finally reunited with Andreas. However, Luna has Silva arrested, Farah is killed and nothing is stopping Rosalind from using Bloom to concoct her sinister plans.
- Broken Pedestal: Sky thought of Andreas as a noble fighter right up until Silva revealed that he was the one who killed Andreas because of his faults.
- Flashback: In the second half of the episode, there is a flashback to the tragedy at Aster Dell. After Silva tells Andreas that following Rosalind's orders to destroy Aster Dell are wrong to no avail, they end up dueling each other. Though Silva kills Andreas, he arrives too late to stop Rosalind from destroying Aster Dell.
- Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: The duel between Silva and Andreas at Aster Dell ends with Silva catching Andreas off-guard and stabbing him through the gut with his sword.
- Just Following Orders: After Silva learned of what Rosalind was going to do in Aster Dell, he tried dissuading Andreas from helping her. However, Andreas told Silva that he was only following Rosalind's orders. Left with no choice, Silva decided to battle and seriously wound Andreas.
- Neck Snap: Rosalind kills Farah by breaking her neck with magic.
- Precision F-Strike: After learning that Silva was the one who killed Andreas in his efforts to stop Rosalind's plans, a distraught Sky can only say "What the fuck am I supposed to do with that?"
- To Be Lawful or Good: In Silva's flashback, he tells Andreas that Rosalind's orders to attack the people at Aster Dell are wrong and that that he has a choice: to either follow Rosalind's orders or his own morals. Andreas's loyalty to Rosalind ultimately leads to his battle with Silva.
- Wham Line:Rosalind: There's a legend. It's a thousand years old. That's how old the Burned Ones are, by the way. They were soldiers from an ancient war. The legend is about the magic used against them. It's powerful. It's primal. The Dragon Flame.
- Wham Shot: Andreas steps out of one of the queen's cars despite being presumed dead.
