Tropes:

  • Already Done for You: When you, Izo and Okita Alter are after the Lancer of the Holy Grail War, you find out that they were just killed by Li Shuwen. You still end up fighting him, though.
  • Alternate Self: There are actually two Okitas and Li Shuwens in the event. In the first half, the first set of Okita and Shuwen are summoned as a result of Mitshide's grail and disappear when Okita Alter defeats them. In the second half, the second set of Okita and Shuwen are the ones summoned by the protagonist.
  • Bait-and-Switch Boss: In the second half, instead of facing "Kasuya Heroine X"/Mysterious Heroine X, you instead fight Izo, as it turns out that he survived the ending of the first part and now seeks revenge for being left behind, forcing X to team up with you to beat him.
  • Beware the Silly Ones: The various mini Nobus are just as silly as before but because they're under the control of a more serious and dangerous Nobunaga, they're very deadly with the people of Tokyo horrified if they see the mini Nobus.
  • Big Bad: Major General Amami/Akechi Mitsuhide is the main villain of the first half.
  • Big Damn Heroes:
    • Okita Alter makes her appearance by saving the protagonist before they are killed by Nobunaga.
    • In the same fight Oryou deflects Nobunaga's bullets after she proves too much for Okita Alter on her territory.
    • And then Oryou pulls off another one by saving the protagonist and Okita Alter from Izo.
    • Just as Izo and Ryoma are exhausted from fighting the Heroic Spirit Soldiers, Hijikata arrives and saves them.
  • Cerebus Syndrome: Invoked in the first half, since suddenly GudaGuda became Darker and Edgier, but the ending with Okita Alter entering Chaldea... the wackiness of the subseries returned... and somehow Chacha got pissed that she missed experiencing the super serious edition of GudaGuda.
  • Darker and Edgier: The first half is much more serious than previous GudaGuda events with the first thing the players see are Mini Nobus killing random civilians in cold blood then the protagonist is shot by a serious Nobunaga for simply talking to her.
  • Debut Queue: Assassin Okada Izo, Rider Sakamoto Ryoma and Alter Ego Okita (Alter) make their playable debut in the event.
  • Denser and Wackier: The second half of the event returns to GudaGuda's normal tone after the first half's much more serious tone.
  • Faking the Dead: At first it looks like Ryoma died from overexertion after using his Noble Phantasm with Nobunaga's against Mitsuhide's Demon King Of The Sixth Heaven form. But after Okita Alter and the protagonist defeat Mitsuhide, Ryoma reveals he's fine and faked his death as insurance.
  • Flashback: The first half of event is told this way, as the prologue already has Okita Alter summoned into Chaldea with Nobunaga and Chacha wondering how the hell she even appeared it's then revealed it's Okita Alter reading the protagonist's memories which is shown to be after she beat Mitsuhide.
  • Foreshadowing: In the prologue for the second half of the event, Nobunaga states that, "Warring State maidens use the bathroom. How else did the Dragon of Echigo die?" The next GudaGuda event reveals that the Dragon of Echigo/Uesugi Kenshin/Nagao Kagetora is in fact a woman.
  • Golem: The Heroic Spirit Soldiers are artificial warriors created by Akechi Mitsuhide using the harvested Spirit Origins of all the Servants that died over the course of the simulated Grail Wars in the singularity. According to Ryouma, they're golems using Western terminology, and while individually no match for a proper Servant they have numbers on their side.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: In the second half of the event, Medea gets incredibly motivated to fight the heroes when she see how well Ryouma and Oryou get along.
  • Hit Me, Dammit!: In the second half of the event, Medusa is forced to fight for Chacha thus she gives advice on how to beat her as she just wants to go back to Chaldea.
  • Home Field Advantage: Servants that have won a proper class each make their own territories and inside said territories they are strengthen due the Holy Grail giving support.
  • Insistent Terminology: Nobunaga demands that Nobukatsu call her Lady Nobunaga instead of sister even threatening to shoot him after he slips too many times.
  • Lost Food Grievance: After Chacha/Avenger Yodo is beaten, Nobu reveals that she ate a pudding and oden in the fridge, enraging both Chacha AND Okita Alter for eating their food, the pudding and oden respectfully, to the point they power up with Chacha becoming Avenger Yodo again while Okita Alter enters her final ascension.
  • Killed Offscreen: Parodied. Both Okita Alter and the protagonist state that Okita died after fighting Chacha, Okita then quickly appears and states she only fainted.
  • Many Spirits Inside of One: It's revealed that before Nobunaga was influenced by the singularity's Holy Grail, she broke off part of her Spirit Origin and fused it with Nobukatsu's since their legends are intertwined. Since then Nobunaga has been quiet inside of Nobukatsu watching the situation, revealing that she can take over Nobukatsu's body when she wants.
  • Mythology Gag: A fight between someone and their older alternative self with white hair and tan skin from the Counter Force where each time they clash, one of them gets stronger. Are we talking about Okita and Okita Alter or Shirou and EMIYA from Unlimited Blade Works route? This time, it's the older self with white hair and tan skin that gets stronger with each clash unlike in Stay Night.
  • Nobody Poops: Lampshaded when Nobunaga beats a retreat to the restroom after a surfeit of coffee milk.
Nobunaga: Huh? Beautiful Warring State maidens don't ever use the bathroom? Don't be ridiculous, of course they do. How do you think the Dragon of Echigo died?
  • Non-Indicative Name: Chacha gathers seven servants to fight for her in the second half of the event and calls them "Seven Spears of the Imperial Capital". When they complain some of them don't even use spears, Chacha brushes it off as she doesn't care.
  • Not Himself: Ryouma outright states that Nobunaga isn't acting like herself after he loses to her. It's revealed that when the protagonist was summoned to the singularity, Nobunaga was also summoned and influenced by the singularity's Holy Grail.
  • No Fourth Wall: The second half returns to GudaGuda fashion with Chacha starting the second half due to a lack of screentime.
  • Not Quite Dead: After losing to Nobunaga, Ryouma has what looks to be a Dying Speech as Oryou disappears. In the same chapter Ryouma and Oryou are perfectly fine with Oryou embarrassed by the dramatics that Ryouma did.
  • One-Winged Angel: After having Nobunaga take back her body and call out his flaws, Mitsuhide uses the grail to transform into a Blob Monster form he calls Demon King Of The Sixth Heaven.
  • Only a Flesh Wound: The protagonist is shot by Nobunaga early on in the event with Ryoma saying it's lucky they weren't shot in a vital area and after a little rest and Oryou's healing spit the protagonist is fine for the entire first half of the event.
  • Paper-Thin Disguise: Apparently all Mitsuhide has to do to hide his identity from a serious Nobunaga is wear a pair of normal sunglasses.
  • Private Detective: Ryoma set up a private detective firm that the protagonists use as their home base during the first half of the event.
  • Shoo Out the Clowns: In the first serious half of the event, every GudaGuda servant appears including Nobukatsu except Chacha and we see why when she heads the far sillier second half.
  • Shout-Out:
    • When discussing how Servants need to fight for the right to a certain class and territory before the Holy Grail begins to support them, the protagonist can either directly note it reminds them of something like Risk or alludes to an "ink shooter" that Archer and Hokusai play.
    • In the second part of the event, Nobukatsu mentions how he made the Super Mecha Nobbu Mk. II "from a bunch of scraps...in a cave!"
    • When preparing to fight Mysterious Heroine X Alter, she states that when sweets are on the line, "Ex gonna give it to ya!"
  • Story And Gameplay Integration: It's stated that servants in their territory are buffed by the Holy Grail and this is shown.
    • Both Okita and Nobunaga are fought inside their territory thus are given special buffs as as a result, Okita each turn gets a one hit dodge and a Quick buff while Nobunaga's NP gauge is filled each turn.
    • Li Shuwen does have a buff since he took over the Lancer's territory but because he's a complete Blood Knight, he refuses to use it which is seen as the buff negating itself at the start of the fight.
  • There Can Be Only One: The 1945 Holy Grail War is unique in instead of there being 7 Servants at the start, there are instead many Servants that fight each other to secure a proper class. Ryouma states it's like a selection stage preceding the actual battle itself.
  • To Serve Man: Oryou's first words to the protagonist is asking if she can eat them if they're dead. She expresses this opinion casually many times later.
  • The Unfought: Despite Nobukatsu being one of Chacha's Seven Spears of the Imperial Capital, Nobunaga is fought in his place due to lacking a sprite. He even complains about this when the Seven Spears are introduced.
  • You Remind Me of X: Li Shuwen gives Izo some advice before he disappears because Izo reminds him of his younger days when he caused plenty of trouble.
