Airdate: November 7, 2010

In this Halloween episode, Stewie and Brian get revenge on some trick-or-treaters who stole Stewie's candy and spray-painted Brian pink, Chris and Meg go to Connie D'Amico's Halloween party and get a nasty surprise, and Quagmire shows Peter and Joe an old kamikaze plane that has supernatural control over him.

"Halloween on Spooner Street" contains examples of:

  • Arson, Murder, and Jaywalking: "We're under attack, Brian! By zombies, vampires, and a Mexican princess!"
  • Artistic License – Military: The 'Japanese Zero' is either a bizarrely rendered Nakajima B5N, or a one-of-a-kind modification of an A6M2-K Trainer that comes with three seats, rather than two, which is unlikely.
  • Bowdlerization: The following scenes were edited/altered between the DVD version and the TV version:
    • The package that comes to Quagmire's house actually reads "Dick Pump" in a faraway shot rather than being blank.
    • When Peter tricks Quagmire into sleeping with Joe, Peter's line "Happy Halloween, fuckface!" had "fuckface" bleeped out on the TV version.
    • The DVD version has an extra part after Meg leaves in her slutty cat costume where Lois complains that girls' Halloween costumes nowadays are just a slutty version of a normal costume, such as a nurse, a pirate, and a cancer survivor, followed by a cutaway of a girl dressed like that and bursting into a party, yelling, "Who wants to check my boobs for lumps, bitches?!"
    • Chris and Meg making out in the closet: on the TV version, Meg has on her bra and the skirt and fishnet stockings from her slutty cat costume while Chris is shirtless and has black pants on. On the DVD version, both of them are in their underwear.
  • Brand X: Brian reading off the candy names in the credits is this to avoid legal troubles, with a bit of Leaning on the Fourth Wall to call bullshit on it.
  • Brick Joke: Quagmire's prank.
  • Call-Back: A Griffin family member once again uses a taxi for an Overly Long Gag. Here, it’s Peter getting a mosquito that has an unidentified disease that Quagmire catches, due to him being immune to every disease known to man.
  • Disproportionate Retribution: Lois getting back Stewie's candy from Justin, the boy who stole it, immediately takes a turn for the dark as after she gets the candy back, she demands the mother give Justin's candy and then $40. When the mother replies she doesn't have $40, Lois says she'll be back for $80 and the welcome mat. Stewie himself quickly goes from thrilled to scared.
  • Double Standard: Rape, Male on Male: Though not directly mentioned as such, Joe deliberately tricked Quagmire into having sex with him by disguising himself as a woman, knowing that he wouldn't feel anything because he's paralyzed from the waist down, as a "prank". What Joe does in this episode is the very definition of "rape by deception", which isn't so much a "prank" as a crime.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: Connie D'Amico, probably one of the worst characters in this series, is genuinely horrified when she discovers Chris and Meg have been making out in the closet indicating one line Connie would never cross would be tricking Meg into doing such a thing.
  • Furry Reminder: Brian confuses his reflection for another dog, and knocks himself out trying to get "him". Then Peter comes along and makes the same mistake.
  • Handy Shortcoming: After Joe reveals to Quagmire that he had sex with him, Joe reveals that because he's paralyzed from the waist down, he didn't feel anything when they had sex, while Quagmire felt everything.
  • Hypocritical Humor: Lois is outraged that Chris is in blackface for Halloween, yet orders him to wear an Indian chief costume (that she purchased herself) instead.
  • I Want My Mommy!: When his plan to get back at Justin and his friends backfires and puts him in danger, Stewie resorts to Plan B: loudly screaming for Lois.
  • Incest Subtext: When Chris and Meg brag about "finally hooking up with someone at a party", Meg assumes that her hook-up will call her tomorrow. This leads Chris to tell her she'll be disappointed and Meg looks otherwise upset by this before the screen cuts to black.
  • Mama Bear: Lois when she discovers that Stewie was robbed of his candy.
  • Paper-Thin Disguise: Obviously Meg doesn't recognise Chris when he's fully clad in an Optimus Prime costume, but Chris really should recognise his own sister when only the top-half of her face is covered by the Cat mask...
  • Ping Pong Naïveté: Stewie nearly shoots several kids out of the belief that they're real monsters. When Brian expresses disbelief that he doesn't know about Halloween, Stewie retaliates by calling him out for his belief that his reflection is another dog.
  • Sexy Whatever Outfit: Meg wears a slutty cat costume. Lampshaded by Lois (in a DVD-exclusive scene) who gripes about how Halloween for girls is just an excuse for them to wear skimpy versions of normal outfits, including one for a breast cancer survivor.
  • Shout-Out:
    • Mayor Adam West passes out candy to a kid dressed as Batman. The real Adam West starred in the title role of the classic campy 1960s TV show of the same name.
    • Chris dresses up as Optimus Prime to disguise himself when playing spin-the-bottle.
    • Meg makes a cutaway saying that she and her friends look as pretty as Scarlett Johansson. The cutaway shows her walking across a red carpet and everyone’s taking photos. As she walks away, Laura Linney appears. No one takes pictures of her except for one person.
  • Squick: In-Universe: When Chris and Meg discover they've been making out with each other in the dark closet, everybody freaks out.
(Chris and Meg stop making out and look at each other)
    Meg: Chris?
    Chris: Meg?
(They start screaming in horror at each other)
Meg: (Voice cracking) OH MY GOD WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?!
Chris: TRYING TO GRAB SOME BOOB!
    Meg: FROM YOUR SISTER?!
Chris: I DIDN'T KNOW IT WAS YOU!
Meg: WELL WHO DID YOU THINK IT WAS?!
    Chris: SOME BITCH! WHO CARES?!
Meg: (gags) OH MY GOD... OH, WE DID SO MUCH!
Chris: SHUT UP, SHUT UP, SHUT UP!
Meg: WE'RE DISGUSTING! WE'RE A DISGRACE TO OUR FAMILY!
    • They're still better than Bill Clinton, though...
  • Take That!: After trick-or-treating on Halloween initially turns out to be disappointing, Stewie compares the disappointment to being a Mets fan, leading to this:
Mets Announcer: Opening day, and here's the first pitch...and the season's over!
(Stewie throws his Mets baseball cap on the ground in frustration)
  • Unsettling Gender-Reveal: One of the pranks pulled on Quagmire is him thinking he had sex with a woman who turns out to be Joe.
  • Welcome to Hell: When Brian is painted pink, he gets sympathy from The Pink Panther.
