Recap / Family Guy S 20 E 13 Lawyer Guy

Go To

Peter gets into a battle with his new lawyer neighbor, while Brian and Stewie become lobstermen.

Tropes

  • Actually, I Am Him: Peter's new neighbor prevents him from relaxing in his hammock due to running his sprinkler nonstop, so Peter hires a lawyer and takes the guy to court. Only when they get to court does Peter discover that his lawyer is his neighbor (Peter never saw the neighbor beforehand as he never looked over the hedge).
  • Almost Out of Oxygen: When Stewie finally reaches Rupert, the pressure from the deep causes him to lose consciousness.
  • Breaking the Fourth Wall: After the cutaway gag mixup, Peter makes it clear the guy responsible is getting fired.
  • Grammar Nazi: Brian repeatedly corrects Stewie’s spelling when they are underwater and have to use dry erase boards for communication.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: Peter gets jealous when his friends start hanging out with Brick, especially after they go to a Surfin' Bird musical and Peter gets stuck at the back while their tickets are right in the front row.
  • Racial Face Blindness: Played for Laughs. After their feud throughout the episode, Peter goes to Brick Baker's (who is Black) house to apologize. He then recites an apology speech...to Cleveland.
Peter: (after Cleveland shut the door on him) What? I was just practicing!
  • Special Guest: Wendie Malick voices the judge that presides over Peter and Brick’s trial.
  • Who Writes This Crap?!: At two different points in the episode a Cutaway Gag plays...and it's the wrong one. After the second time:
    Lois: ...What was that?

Brian the Grammar Shark?

Brian and Stewie try to communicate underwater with markers and whiteboards, but Stewie uses the wrong homophones and Brian has to correct him. Stewie then fails to warn Brian of impending danger when he doesn't write a self-interruption correctly.

How well does it match the trope?
