The Wi-Fi goes out in the Griffin house, leaving the family with nothing to do for the evening; Peter and Lois decide to tell the kids the story of how they met and fell in love in the '90s.
Tropes:
- Comically Missing the Point: When Quagmire points out that Peter made the song 'Cotton Eye Joe' take up most of his mix-tape tracks for Lois, Peter asks if he should have used the song 'more'. When Quagmire bluntly says no Peter says he did it anyway.
- Freak Out: The Griffins all lose their shit after the Wi-Fi goes down, in a Shout-Out to Airplane!.
- Kavorka Man: At the end of the episode the Griffins spend a fair amount of time roasting the appearance of Adam Duritz, but Peter does inform his kids that regardless he has slept with a significant roster of attractive women celebrities of the 90's.
- Negative Continuity: Past cutaways and even their wedding photo portray Peter and Lois as getting married in a church. However, this episode shows they got married at Fenway.
- Noodle Incident: Somehow, Lois was already pregnant with Meg, but there was no mention of Chris whatsoever.
- Running Gag: The World Trade Center is constantly visible in the flashbacks to hammer home the point that it takes place in the 90s and thus pre-9/11. It's even visible in background shots that don't take place in New York City.
- The '90s: Peter tells the story of how he married Lois in the nineties, and the episode is overloaded with pop culture references to the decade.
