The same episode plot is presented in segments parodying Quentin Tarantino, Wes Anderson and Michael Bay.
- Actor Allusion: Angela is dressed as Princess Leia in the Quentin Tarantino segment. Because of course she is.
- Bloodier and Gorier: The Quentin Tarantino segment is much more violent and graphic than the other two segments, including multiple instances of Eye Scream and people getting cut in half.
- Brick Joke: In the Michael Bay segment, the chick living with the muscular Peter mentions how he can't get an erection. During the credits, when Peter and Lois go behind a tombstone to have sex, Peter can't seem to get it up and just talks with Lois for a few minutes before he plans to have her go back and tell everyone he performed as expected.
- End of an Age: It was the last episode of the show to have Carrie Fisher as the voice of Angela before her death.
- Self-Deprecation:
- After explaining the premise of the episode, Peter says they contacted numerous directors and the three featured were the ones who didn't immediately say no.
- When Peter asks her what her favorite segment was, Lois says she didn't care for the episode at all.
- Shout-Out: Peter's appearance in the Michael Bay segment is exactly like Nicolas Cage in Con Air.
- Take That!: The episode pokes fun at the traits the directors are known for.
- Tarantino's love of excessive violence.
- Anderson's overbearing quirkiness.
- Bay's addiction to Product Placement, fanservice, patriotism, and hard to follow fight scenes.
- The Voiceless: Meg doesn't say a word in this entire episode.
