Frank gets a job as a stocking man courtesy of Smokey, consequently sleeping through the day and ignoring Sue and his family. All the while, Kevin and his band try to get a gig and Sue has an idea for a new Plast-a-Ware product.
Tropes:
- Be Careful What You Wish For: Kevin and his band want their song to be played on the radio. And when they present it to them, they agree. However, it turns out that only a small clipping of the song is used for a jingle. The band members are still impressed, nevertheless.
- "Eureka!" Moment: How Susan thinks up the salad spinner, when the washing machine breaks down and she reminds the watery lettuce Frank used for dinner.
- Failed Attempt at Drama: Kevin quickly changes his mind and turns the car around, stating his intent for his band to get their song on the radio, with his bandmates cheering in agreement. They're then immediately almost hit by a truck.
- Funny Background Event: At the hospotal, Smokey is displaying to Frank how to stock food in the vending machines, describing it similar to a sexual manner, while holding Frank. The nurse in the background is just staring dumbfounded at them.
- Handshake Refusal: When meeting Smokey for the first time, Frank offers his hand, but Smokey rebuffs him.
- Imagine Spot: Susan has one in which she gains fame for her new invention. She is seen being congratulated at a party, people cheering her on in the background, and she smugly stuffs her now dry lettuce into the heads of her bosses which are on a silver platter.
- Mushroom Samba: Kevin has one after inhaling weed with his bandmates. It involves him looking through a mirror, his face contorting into his father's, and it scolding him for being a failure.
- Surveillance Station Slacker: At the radio station.
