Apply time travel directly to the affected area.

Fargo: Hello, cop types! Bad guys are not going to find themselves.
Carter: Is he getting bossier?
Jo: I kind of like it.

The weapon stolen in the last episode is still missing. Allison is killed in an accident, and Carter and Grant accidentally travel back into the forties together. They manage to change time just so that Allison is saved.

Tropes

  • Alone-with-Prisoner Ploy: When Carter is arrested in place of his earlier counterpart, he's handcuffed to a chair in Major Ryan's office. Grant comes in just as a disturbance occurs outside and tells the Major to leave him with Carter, slapping him to sell it. Turns out this is the present version of Grant, come to free Carter and save Allison.
  • Call-Back:
  • Car Fu: Carter's instructions from his time-travelling self are to drive his car, full-speed, into what looks like a gorge but is in fact a disguised building where the new bridge device is about to be used.
  • Cliffhanger: The episode ends with Beverly Barlowe on the phone to someone, reporting that the plan went wrong, but that they have a new target. With the tablet on her lap, she zooms in on Carter and Allison...
  • Compound-Interest Time Travel Gambit: While back in 1947, Dr Grant bought 1 000 shares in Johnson & Johnson. He returns to the present to find he's now loaded.
  • Internal Reveal: Carter and Jo learn that Beverly Barlowe is involved.
  • Naked People Are Funny: Back in 1947, Carter accidentally prevents Fargo's arrest while streaking through the base. As Fargo has to be arrested for previous events to follow their course, he exposes Fargo's hiding place with fireworks. Cue agonised squealing.
  • Put on a Bus: Dr Grant takes another new identity and leaves Eureka, to prevent the scrutiny of an investigation exposing the time travel and thus the sanctioning of himself and the team.
  • Ripple-Effect-Proof Memory: Played With. When new Carter completes his instructions from 1947 Carter and prevents Allison's death as well as the latest round of time travel, he and Grant physically morph into themselves from 1947 and regain those memories.
  • Rubber-Band History:
    • Grant stops Past!Allison from reviving Adam Barlowe with an improvised defibrillator, so she saves him in another way instead.
    • Beverly's existence in the new timeline is revealed to be an example, given that her father was arrested and spent 15 years in prison for Dr Grant's disappearance. That likely didn't happen in the timeline where Dr Grant didn't disappear, but Adam still managed to meet and marry the same woman in order to have the same daughter.
  • Running Gag: Carter's Jeep is hit by a flying car in one timeline, then crashed by Carter into an invisible building in the other.
  • Set Right What Once Went Wrong:
    • Before running into Carter, Dr Grant founded The Consortium, an organisation devoted to guiding scientific research away from weapons. They were building the Einstein-Grant bridge to send Adam Barlowe back to 1939 with papers to get into the Manhattan Project and change its outcome.
    • He intends to travel back to 1947, preventing Adam Barlowe's arrest for his disappearance and using his knowledge of the future to change the twentieth century.
    • Carter and Grant don't go back to 1947 in order to prevent Allison's death, but since they're there anyway, they decide to manipulate events that way.
  • Title Drop:
    • The Chanteuse singing "I'll Be Seeing You" appears again, as she did in Founder's Day.
    • Grant's last words to Carter before leaving Eureka.
  • Unspoken Plan Guarantee: Having failed to warn the Allison from the previous trip to 1947 and prevent her death, Carter has another idea. We aren't shown what it is until Carter's day restarts in the new new timeline; when he and Jo go through Grant's things from 1947, they listen to the same recording they did in the first go round (confused yet?) find a message from Carter with instructions to save Allison... which we don't hear, but see in action.
