RIP Nathan Stark.

"You know that I'll always be here for you? No matter what."
Jack, to Allison

It's Allison's wedding day, and Carter is stuck in a time loop that causes him to relive it over and over. Unfortunately, there's no simple act that will right things, and the solution may prove very costly.

Tropes:

  • Cool Aunt: Lexi.
  • Death of the Hypotenuse: Subverted. Nathan dies, but only after the triangle was resolved and Allison already chose him over Carter.
  • Embarrassing Nickname: Jack's sister calls him "Monkey". In the final loop, he calls her "Stretch".
  • Establishing Character Moment: Lexi arrives at the Carters' three days early because "Geminis travel better on Saturday" and announces that one of the cats she's brought is the reincarnation of her and Jack's grandma.
  • Foreshadowing: Lexi Carter's comment about weddings foreshadows Stark's death.
Lexi: Love weddings. They're final yet festive, like funerals with champagne.
  • Funny Background Event: In an early loop, someone at CafĂ© Diem puts their elbow in a bowl of ice cream. Later, Carter can be seen pulling the bowl out of their way.
  • "Groundhog Day" Loop: Jack is in one, reliving Allison and Stark's wedding day over and over when it resets at 6 pm.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: Nathan's sacrifice saves the town.
  • Oh, Crap!: Leo Weinberger has a plan to break the time loop, but if it fails he'll die. However, he finds a way for Carter to make Stark believe what's going on; remembering a board-filling equation about the speed of light! Carter's face fills with dread as he sees it.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: Working together to break the loop, Carter and Stark are nothing but civil to each other.
  • Red Herring: Two of them.
    • Jack's first suspect for the cause of the time loop is the atomic clock being conspicuously delivered to GD and which is scheduled to start around the time the loop always resets. The loops continue after he forces Fargo to disable the clock, and finally the clock becomes instrumental in breaking the loop.
    • Eva Thorne is up to something while everyone else is at the wedding, but it has nothing to do with time loops. In fact, she's running some kind of survey on the site Henry found for her, similar to "an MRI on the ground."
  • Shout-Out: Zoe refers to Lexi's boyfriend as her "Doctor WHO." Vincent says, "Oh, I love that show!" before being told that Duncan works for the World Health Organisation.
  • Spotting the Thread: Leo Weinberger leads Carter to believe he's just a technician who doesn't know how the science works. When Henry reveals that that's not true and Leo is actually a temporal physicist, it becomes obvious who's responsible for the time loop.
  • Temporal Paradox: Nathan Stark asserts that time loops are impossible, and that they'd cause universe-deleting side effects. Nathan prevents this outcome at the cost of his life.
  • Widowed at the Wedding: Nathan dies just before the wedding.
  • You Have to Believe Me!: As usual, Jack has serious problems getting anyone to take the strange events he and no one else has witnessed. Making it worse is the fact that everyone is under pressure because of the wedding and thinks Jack is acting out of jealousy.
    Carter: I'm not crazy!
Fargo: Says the guy with crazy eyes and a gun!
