Recap / Ed Edd N Eddy S 4 E 3 Is There An Ed In The House

Go To

Sarah is sick, and Jimmy and Ed both volunteer to take care of her. While the two both try to be better than the other at doing so, Ed's desire to take care of his younger sister throws a wrench at Eddy's desire to run another scam.

Tropes:

  • Arson, Murder, and Jaywalking: How this episode ends. Ed gets beaten up by Sarah, Edd is sick and now has to deal with Jimmy pestering him, Eddy sulks his driving school scam failed and goes home wondering what's on TV.
  • Beware the Nice Ones:
    • Edd wanting to get at Sarah for giving him a cold. Ed has to hold him back.
    • Subverted with Ed. He tries to stand up to Sarah but it doesn't last long and Sarah makes him pay for it.
  • Bullying a Dragon: Ed for trying to assert authority over Sarah after getting some bad advice from Eddy.
  • The Dog Bites Back: Under Eddy's advice, Ed refuses to give in to Sarah's usual demands, which works until his actions cause her to cry.
  • Glass Cannon: When Ed has the upper hand over Sarah for once, she's left quivering. After he throws Jimmy out of the house in this state, she starts crying, when normally, she'd be laying him a No-Holds-Barred Beatdown right then and there.
Sarah: "ED! GO GET MY BALL!"
Ed: "NO BALL! GET IN BED! REST NOW!"
Sarah: (nervous) "Please get my ball?"
  • Jerkass Ball: Sarah when she taunts Edd about the position of the bell and then blows a raspberry at him when he complains she's being capricious (though she was probably fooling around with Edd for fun).
  • Karma Houdini: Eddy for telling Ed to stand up to Sarah. It gets Ed beaten up by Sarah mercilessly as while Eddy goes home to watch TV.
  • Know When to Fold 'Em: How the episode ends. With the scam ruined, Ed getting beaten up by Sarah, and Edd home sick with a nasty cold with Jimmy now being his nurse, Eddy decides to just go home and watch TV.
  • Pet the Dog: When Edd gets Sarah's cold at the end of the episode, Jimmy takes him away, promising to look after him. Although Edd does not want Jimmy to nurse him.
  • Throw the Dog a Bone: This episode has a rare ending where Ed and Edd are in pain (for different reasons) while only Eddy is fine. Eddy is usually the one who gets the short end of the stick.
  • Wounded Gazelle Gambit: Maybe. Sarah is legitimately shocked when Ed briefly stands up for himself, but when he lets his guard down, she seizes her chance and attacks him.
