Eddy answers Ed's curiosity about Double D's intelligence with a fib about him secretly being a reptilian humanoid who plans on making everyone a freaky Half-Human Hybrid!
Tropes
- Beware the Nice Ones: While Edd is usually a very gentle, kind person, he snaps when Ed tries to remove his hat and retaliates by slapping Ed's hand with a ruler then spitefully orders Ed to keep his distance.
- Bolivian Army Ending: It's never shown if Eddy gets out of the bucket before the episode ends, though he presumably does seeing as the last line of the episode is him yelling "Foot!" before presumably kicking Ed.
- Broken Record: Edd and Nazz say "Join us, Ed" about five times.
- Captain Oblivious: Edd has no idea about the reason behind Ed's behavior, let alone Eddy's prank. Lampshaded at the end:Edd: (in response to Ed claiming he transformed Eddy into a cockroach) I honestly haven't a clue!
- Clingy Costume: Eddy gets stuck in the bucket while disguising himself as a cockroach.
- Crying Wolf: Eddy pretends to be turned into a cockroach as a practical joke. Later, when he asks Ed to help him out of the bucket, Ed still thinks he's a bug.
- Early-Installment Weirdness: A few seconds after Ed becomes shocked by Eddy telling him that Double D is not human, he actually thinks twice and says "No way.", prompting Eddy to lie to him even more. If this episode were from a later season, Eddy would not have had to say anything more to fully convince Ed that Double D is not human.
- Empty Piles of Clothing: Invoked. Eddy takes off his clothes and lays them on the floor to make it seem like they were left behind when he transformed into a bug.
- Gone Horribly Right: Eddy's prank on Ed works, but when Nazz invites his friends over for her barbecue, the latter's stunt (folding his body in a bucket) results in Ed and the others mistaking him for a giant cockroach and being hunted down.
- Hand Puppet: At the beginning of the episode, Ed is distracted playing with sock puppets while Eddy is setting up their latest scam.
- Laser-Guided Karma: Eddy folds his body into a bucket to make Ed think Edd turned him into a cockroach. He ends up getting stuck in the bucket for the rest of the episode and the other kids swat him, mistaking him for an actual bug.
- Noodle Incident: Eddy has run around naked at least once before.
- Oh, Crap!: Eddy when he's crawling down his hallway and realizes he's about to fall down the stairs.
- Oh, No... Not Again!: When Edd finds Eddy's clothes on the floor, he asks if Eddy is running around naked again.
- Sarcasm-Blind: Basically the whole reason this plot kicked off is because Ed took Eddy's sarcasm of Double D not being human as a serious answer, which even gives Eddy an opportunity to use this to trick Ed.
- Shoe Slap: Rolf beats up the "cockroach" with his shoe.
- Staircase Tumble: While Eddy was pretending to be a cockroach, he went to the stairs and fall all the way down.
- Take Me Instead: Ed yells this to the "Lizard Man" (actually an average human Edd) when he believes it has turned Eddy into a cockroach.
