"This'll cement our friendship with Kevin, and he'll be just pouring jawbreakers at us!"
The Eds find out Kevin's dad works at a jawbreaker factory after Eddy screws up when Kevin was about to offer them some jawbreakers, and Eddy is determined to get into Kevin's good graces... much to his annoyance.

This episode contains the following tropes:

  • An Aesop: Surprisingly, several from an Ed Edd n' Eddy episode.
    • You can't force someone to like you; especially if you've been a jerk to them up until then.
    • Don't try to become someone's friend just to get free stuff. They'll see right through it.
  • Ash Face: The Eds destroy Kevin's chimney, leaving them and Kevin covered in soot.
  • Coordinated Clothes: In an attempt to befriend Kevin, the Eds dress just like him.
  • Early-Installment Weirdness:
    • Kevin was legitimately going to give the Eds jawbreakers until Eddy was rude to him by forcing his scam on him. Just a season or two later this would be unheard of for Kevin, as he'd be much more likely to taunt the Eds right off the bat about getting free jawbreakers. Somewhat justified in that the Eds' antagonistic actions throughout the episode, among the multitude of other scams they continue to pull on him and others throughout the series, would naturally cause him to grow less sympathetic to them over time.
    • Much of the sympathy of this episode is actually on Kevin instead of the Eds. The plot starts because of Eddy being a jerk to him, and we're supposed to sympathize with the fact that the Eds won't leave him alone once they figure out he has a garage full of jawbreakers. In later episodes, Kevin would always be the outright aggressor and antagonist to the Eds.
  • Fair-Weather Foe: The Eds try to become "friends" with Kevin in order to score some free jawbreakers, which Kevin sees right through.
  • Fun with Flushing: While atempting to tunnel into Kevin's garage, the Eds end up in his bath tub instead. After Eddy angers him, Kevin removes the plug and the Eds are promptly sucked down the drain, with Ed actually enjoying it.
  • Hypocritical Humor: "Those three stupid hairs on his head?!"
  • Irritation Is the Sincerest Form of Flattery: Invoked by the Eds who dress up as Kevin, under the psychological belief that imitating someone's manners and appearance makes them like you. Needless to say, it doesn't work, and it just further serves to annoy Kevin.
  • Kids Prefer Boxes: By the time the Eds get to Kevin for their free jawbreakers, they are all out, and Kevin just drops the empty box at them. Ed says, "Free box!" and crawls inside it.
  • Monster in the Moat: The Eds' scam is to dig a moat in the alley, set up a drawbridge, and pay the kids to pass. Ed gets in the moat and acts as the crocodile guarding it.
  • Non-Nude Bathing: Partially, as Kevin is shown bathing while still wearing his hat.
  • Pet the Dog: Downplayed. In a rare moment of kindness towards the Eds, Kevin aims to offer them some of his dad's offloaded jawbreakers - but by Eddy's scam-mongering, is soon irked enough to withdraw the offer.
  • Slippery Swimsuit: The Eds siphon water from Sarah and Jimmy's inflatable pool for their moat, taking Jimmy's shorts with it. Ed wears it on his head while pretending to be a crocodile.
  • Sneeze of Doom: The Eds try to clean Kevin's chimney by lowering Ed while wearing a rainbow wig. The soot gets into Ed's nose, causing him to sneeze so hard the entire chimney falls down, taking the entire back wall with it.
