Recap / Dragons: Riders of Berk S4 E8 "Edge of Disaster, Part 1"

Go To

Upon receiving a call for help from Johann, Hiccup, Snotlout and Fishlegs set off to rescue him, leaving Astrid, Ruffnut and Tuffnut to defend Dragon's Edge from an all-out attack.

Tropes:

  • Badass in Distress:
    • Ruffnut is captured by the hunters.
    • Fishlegs is carried off by aggressive wild dragons.
  • Bad Liar: Astrid's attempt to say she respects the twins would have been more believable if she hadn't been struggling to put the words together.
  • Both Sides Have a Point: While Astrid has every right to be mad at the Twins for their crazy antics without thinking things through, Ruffnut correctly points out that her lack of respect towards them and everyone whose name doesn't rhyme with Hiccup isn't making anything better, either.
  • Cliffhanger: Dagur and Ryker are closing in on the Edge, Ruffnut is captured by Hunters, and Hiccup has only just found where the wild dragons took Fishlegs.
  • Hold the Line: With Fishlegs, Hiccup, and Snotlout off rescuing Johann, and Ruffnut captured, Tuffnut and Astrid are left to defend Dragon's Edge from the Dragon Hunters.
  • It's All My Fault: Astrid blames herself for Ruffnut being captured. Tuffnut agrees with her on all accounts, much to her frustration.
  • Poor Communication Kills: The distress message says Johann is being attacked by the Dragon Hunters, so Hiccup sends the only riders he has best suited for dealing with the hunters. Turns out Johann was only being attacked by wild dragons and the Hunters are actually attacking Dragon's Edge.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: The twins get sick of Astrid dismissing them, so Ruffnut launches into a tirade on how Astrid has no respect for everyone who isn't Hiccup — though, granted, with their Cloudcuckoolander antics that have more than once almost got others around them hurt or killed and limited attention spans, you can kind of see why the more practical Astrid might not actually see much to respect.
