Recap / Dragon Ball Z Abridged E 13

Go To

Gohan: Krillin, they have the Dragon Balls.
Krillin: Yes, Gohan. I noticed.
Gohan: Did you feel their power levels? They were as strong as Vegeta!
Krillin: Yes, Gohan! I noticed!
Gohan: But that one guy at the front... he was like a hundred Vegetas!
Krillin: YES, GOHAN! I NOTICED! On the bright side, I no longer have to pee anymore.

Original Airdate: April 7, 2010

The heroes have finally arrived on Namekā€¦and so has Vegeta! Even worse, the planet is already crawling with fiends who are even stronger than Vegeta, some of whom destroy the good guys' ship. Luckily, a Senzu Bean restores Goku's health, allowing him to go to the rescue... provided Dr. Briefs has a spaceship he can spare.

These tropes be whack, yo!

  • Brick Joke:
    • On the spaceship, Krillin had a long monologue about being frustrated by Bulma's constant parading around in her underwear, and never getting to have any alone time. Once they have a minute's peace on Namek, Krillin goes into the cave alone for several minutes. Later, when Bulma goes in to set up camp:
      Bulma: OH GOD, IT'S EVERYWHERE!!
    • Goku makes a similar comment to Dr. Birdenheim when he has the senzu bean.
  • Bring My Brown Pants: After getting a feel for Freeza's power, Krillin, who in the previous episode stated that due to the talking toilet had not gone to the bathroom, no longer has any need to pee.
  • Deus ex Machina: Just as Goku is bemoaning that he can't help his friends while stuck in the hospital bed, Yajirobe shows up with some Senzu beans to instantly heal.
Goku: If only there was a way...
Roshi: Take the damn magical beans, Goku!
  • Establishing Character Moment: We get one at the end of the episode for Zarbon, showing off his Camp (maybe Camp Straight) side when he gives his opinion on the newly-deceased Cui.
Zarbon: Wait, which one was Cui?
Dodoria: You remember. Purple guy... hated Vegeta...
Zarbon: Gonna have to be a little more specific.
    Dodoria: Reproduced asexually.
Zarbon: Oh, him! Eww! You know, I wouldn't have minded so much if he wasn't all up in my face about it. I can only swallow so much.
  • Exactly What I Meant to Say:
Freeza Soldier #2: Stay right there and we'll shoot you!
Krillin: Don't you mean "or we'll shoot you"?
Freeza Soldier #2: We know what we said!
  • From Bad to Worse: A recovered Vegeta arriving on the same planet as the gang is bad enough. But now they have to deal with an army filled with soldiers, each with almost the same power level as him, plus their leader, Freeza, who is supposedly a hundred times as powerful according to Gohan. All three parties are after the Dragon Balls.
  • He Knows Too Much: Why did Vegeta talk about his humiliating defeat on Earth to Cui, since they hate each other? So he can invoke this trope as an excuse to kill him so he doesn't tell anyone else. Talk about cathartic.
    Vegeta: God, I love therapy.
  • Hope Spot: As Krillin, Bulma, and Gohan land on Namek, Krillin believes that finding the planet's Dragon Balls will be a walk in the park. Just then, Gohan spots a Space Pod arriving and senses that Vegeta is in there. Then Bulma sees the Dragon Radar scanning four of the balls already gathered by some unknown party. This is enough for Krillin to Freak Out before sensing the power levels of the unknown party.
  • Lame Pun Reaction: Krillin's attempt at a one-liner merely adds a point to the Krillin Owned Count.
  • My Friends... and Zoidberg: Bulma and Krillin end up generating one of these for Yamcha:
Bulma: Who knows? Maybe here, I'll finally find a real man.
    Krillin: What about Yamcha?
    Bulma: A real man.
  • The Scream: Krillin delivers a long loud one when he learns that Namek's Dragon Balls are gathered by another party, and Vegeta has arrived as well. It's so loud, that Vegeta can hear it from afar.
Vegeta: I just got here and this place is already annoying.
  • Shout-Out:
  • To Be Continued... Right Now: The narrator plays this straight at the end of the episode.
Narrarator: A new evil has revealed its face. Who are these mysterious enemies? And do Gohan and Krillin stand a chance? The answer to these questions will be revealed... right now! Zarbon, Dodoria, Frieza, and ohhh my, no!
    Krillin: Wait! Wha—?
  • The Stinger: The episode ends with Yamcha, Tien, Chiaotzu, and Piccolo arriving at King Kai's planet. He gets everyone started training, and has Yamcha wash his car.
  • Your Mom: After Freeza soldier #2's shot misses Krillin and Gohan and blows up the ship instead, Freeza Soldier #1 decides to mock his partner's aiming:
Freeza Soldier #1: Damn man, you couldn't hit the broad side of a space-barn!
Freeza Soldier #2: Yeah well that's only because I'm too busy hitting the broad side of your mom!

Yamcha: Oooh, like in that movie! Wax On, Wax Off.
King Kai: Yeah, go wax off.

"God, I Love Therapy"

Why did Vegeta talk about his humiliating defeat on Earth to Cui, since they hate each other? So he can invoke this trope as an excuse to kill him so he doesn't tell anyone else.

How well does it match the trope?
