Welfare Dragon: Rathalos

After another portal opens up, Euden and the gang are visited by some group of explorers who study monsters. However, they weren't the only ones to cross the portal. A Rathalos came through as well and is causing trouble in Alberia. With the help of Wyventurer, Berserker and Vanessa get equipped with gear made specially for hunting monsters like Rathalos.

As they venture to face the Rathalos, they find the beast constantly escaping. However, the Rathalos ends up dropping an otherworld fragment after one fight. After getting exhausted from chasing the Rathalos, Euden and the party take a brief rest. As they get up to continue the hunt, a tear to the otherworld opens up, revealing the black dragon, Fatalis. Rathalos charges at the black dragon, only to be effortlessly defeated. Upon Felyne getting pulled into the otherworld, Euden and the gang jump in to save him from Fatalis.

After a brutal fight with the black dragon, the party escapes with Felyne in hand. After which, a celebration is held at the Soaratorium. However, the celebration proves to be premature as they get an alert about a black dragon causing trouble in villages. The reports say that the black dragon is another Rathalos known as a Dreadking.

The crew then set off to hunt the Dreadking. Upon finding it, the deviant Rathalos proves to be more dangerous and formidable then the regular one, moving faster and releasing poison from its claws. Just as things look bad, the crew is saved by Sarisse, who has been equipped with Mizutsune gear to help her handle even a Dreadking.

With Sarisse by their side, the crew continues pursuit of the Dreadking, before finally cornering it and taking it down. After defeating the Dreadking, the crew stumbles upon its nest. After examination, they couldn't find any evidence indicating that the Dreadking was the one responsible for all the attacks that happened. Just as they pondered about the possibility of another black dragon, another otherworld tear opens up, and the crew hears the roar of Fatalis come from it.

Wyenturer theorizes that being in the rift between world has given the monster the power to open up its own rifts. This theory proves true after a study is performed on one of its scales, in which it can open rifts anywhere where there is a large quantity of mana.

Taking the scale and their otherworld fragments, the crew goes to a location where Fatalis would cause the least amount of damage. Upon which, they open up a rift and face the black dragon once again with Rathalos at their side. The fight proves brutal with the black dragon showing no signs of standing down. Just then, Euden is told to lead Fatalis through the portal. The prince does this by shapeshifting to get the monster's attention. As soon as Fatalis goes through, the Dragonator is fired at him, taking the black dragon down once and for all.

Upon which, Rathalos is revealed to have developed the ability to open rifts as well, opening a portal back to the monster hunter world. The party says their farewells to the Soararotium crew, who follows Rathalos through the portal back home. Despite the sad goodbye, Euden has faith that they would meet them again someday, especially since the Rathalos is able to come back at any time.
