SDN Employee Handbook, pg. 44

Robert starts his first day at the Superhero Dispatch Network and meets the Z-Team: a dysfunctional assortment of former supervillains with a wide spread of clashing personalities and neuroses. If Robert has any hope of resuming his superhero career, he's going to have to do the impossible and transform these superpowered miscreants into real heroes...

Tropes for this episode include:

  • Bad Liar: For the mission "Blaze in the Burbs", a fire suddenly erupts at the local park... a few moments after Flambae suddenly goes off route to that location and returns to the homebase.
Robert: The fire that's burning two blocks from where you're standing. You didn't start that?
Flambae: Yeah, I mean, I don't know what you're talking about. I'm on break, so how could I know?
  • Ending Theme: POUND CAKE by THOT SQUAD plays over the credits.
  • Evil Is Petty: Well, more like "Formerly Evil Is Petty". In response to Robert's "The Reason You Suck" Speech due to her actions at Granny's Donuts, Invisigal goes invisible, fakes storming out of the door, jump scares Robert before punching him, and later on, she smears donuts on his computer. That last part is especially noteworthy as it's the same flavor of donuts she asked him he preferred while at Granny's and planned on giving him to celebrate his first day as a dispatcher.
  • Instant Expert: Despite this being his first day, Robert's performance as Z-Team's dispatcher goes much better than expected given the team's history. Blonde Blazer in fact considers the work Robert did with them to be the best she's ever seen of them up to this point.
  • Pet the Dog: Seeing how much of a Nervous Wreck Waterboy is for his upcoming interview at the company, Robert chooses to help him fix his tie that's he's been struggling with.
  • Power at a Price: Chase's superpower as Fast Track allowed him to move fifty times faster than the average human being, not realizing until it was too late that he also aged fifty times faster than the average human being.
  • Running Gag: Robert being smaller than expected. It is first stated by Waterboy when he recognizes Robert as Mecha Man, then by Blonde Blazer when she has him change clothes, and finally by Phenomaman when they first meet face to face.
  • Secret Identity: Justified, given there were previous incidents with former heroes working as dispatchers. Robert has to keep his identity as Mecha Man a secret. Given the bar incident with Flambae in the previous episode, Blonde Blazer was right to enforce this rule on Robert before his first day on the job.
  • Wham Episode: The ending reveals the reason why Blonde Blazer is so awkward around Robert despite the romantic tension between them: she's dating Phenomaman.
