Bean's having a stressful day! First, an old nemesis arrives, acting suspiciously contrite. Then, vicious ogres invade and won't leave without Elfo.
Tropes:
- Abusive Parents: Bunty considers throwing her children to the ogres until they get stuffed and decide to go home a perfectly valid battle tactic. Note that throwing Bunty at the ogres was the guards' idea, it's Bunty who suggests her kids.
- Awesome Moment of Crowning: The episode opens with Bean's coronation as queen of Dreamland.
- Behind the Black: Rulo and Leavo find the mysterious seat of Candyass, and tell one another no other elf can learn about this. Then Shocko makes his presence known. Then it turns out Kissy, Superviso and Shrimpo are all right behind them as well.
- Big Bad Ensemble: There are three sets of villains that work independently in this episode. First, there are the ogres who want Elfo due to him stabbing the lead ogre in both eyes with swords. Second, Odval and Big Joe are working together to acquire Dreamland for The Society all while Odval is pretending to be on Bean’s side (again). Finally, Dagmar returns and kidnaps Bean so that she force her daughter to marry someone in Hell.
- Big Damn Heroes: The Trøg come to Dreamland's aid during the siege and are able to repel the ogre attack. The victory doesn't last long though since the ogres regroup for another attempt.
- Big "NO!": Luci's reaction when he realizes he's been sent to Heaven.
- The Bus Came Back:
- Big Jo and Porky return.
- Leavo returns, having been in the cell in the Trog kingdom since we last saw him.
- Downer Ending: Elfo lets himself be taken by the ogres so Dreamland will be spared, King Zog is sent to an asylum, Luci dies in an attempt to protect Bean from her mother and goes to Heaven (which he hates), and Bean is sent to Hell and forced to marry “God only knows”.
- Eye Poke: Elfo does this to an on ogre who is peeking through two holes in the wall that Elfo is standing behind.
- The Friend Nobody Likes: No-one outside of Bean and Luci cares about Elfo, and are quite willing to literally throw him to the ogres in exchange for their own lives.
- Hellevator: Literally. There is an express elevator in the main tower of the castle that goes down all the way to Hell itself.
- Heroic Sacrifice: Elfo offers himself up to the ogres so that Bean and her kingdom won’t be destroyed while protecting him.
- Hypocrite: Big Jo treats Porky terribly, but bristles when anyone else does the same.
- Keeping the Enemy Close: Said word for word by Bean in regards to why she will allow Odval to stay as her advisor, despite knowing about his evil intent.
- Mood Whiplash: Thanks to Bean's impatience, and the difference in size between her and her father, most of the pomp of her coronation is skipped, and her first words on being crowned are "What the Hell? This crown can suck it!"
- Morton's Fork: The ogres tell Bean that either Dreamland can give up Elfo, or they'll just march in, kill everyone, and take Elfo anyway.
- The Needs of the Many: As Odval points out, the ogres just want Elfo, and will gladly kill everyone in Dreamland to get him, so by that logic handing Elfo over to them is a pretty rational decision (especially since Dreamland can't hold off a protracted siege). While Bean doesn't want to do it, her responsibilities as queen outweigh her concern for her friend / stalker.Odval: The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the Elfo.
- Not Hyperbole: When Stan presses someone for information, he actually uses a press.
- Not Me This Time: Bean blames Dagmar for the ogre attack, but the latter claims she had nothing to do with it.
- Not so Dire: After an episode of build-up, the source of the green smoke arrives at Dreamland... and it's just Big Jo's cart. Turns out Porky has a grill back there for sausages.
- Off with His Head!: How Luci dies.
- Overly Long Gag: The Trog ruler stabbing an ogre over and over and over... eventually Bean gets creeped out and tells him he can just take the corpse away.
- The Reveal:
- We learn from Leavo and the Elf King that Dreamland is actually the Lost Kingdom of Elves.
- King Zog’s ancestors actually conquered Dreamland and took it away from the previous people, only to be cursed by them as revenge.
- Big Jo was the one that tore the page from the book of the Dreamland Royal Family history.
- Shout-Out:
- When Alva Gunderson watches the spy footage from Bean's coronation, he claims it's his favorite show; the Crown, that is.
- During the siege, Junior, the last Ogre standing, tries to climb up a pile of unconscious Ogres and ladders while dodging the barrels thrown at him, creating a scene very similar to Donkey Kong.
- Spy Cam: The red jewel of the royal crown is revealed to be one for Alva Gunderson to spy on Bean (or Dreamland for that matter).
- The Unreveal: The ogres really, really want Elfo for some reason, which nobody bothers to ask.
- Wham Episode: Where to begin... Elfo gives himself up to the ogres to spare the kingdom, Bean gets taken to hell where Dagmar intends to force her to marry somebody. Luci dies trying to save Bean and is sent to Heaven. Zøg is transported to an insane asylum. It is revealed that the thing Leavo and Rulo were looking for in Dreamland was the legendary Elf throne Candyass and that Dreamland was once the Elf ancestral homeland, and if the note translated by Odval is to be believed, the Elves might be the ancient foe that cursed Bean's family line. Oh and speaking of Odval, turns out he and Big Jo are both members of the secret society but of different branches.
