Recap / Dinotrux S 04 E 05 Garbys Gang

Go To

The Dinotrux have fallen off a cliff and taken severe damage. With Ty forced to both take the long way home and tow the other inoperable Trux with him, it's up to Garby to form a team to protect the Flatirons from D-Structs and Blayde for the next few days.

Tropes:

  • Backup Bluff: D-Structs and Blayde decide to make their exit when the others arrive battle-ready. Ty is relieved at this because none of them were actually in any shape to fight.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: George admits that he used to have anger management problems before adopting his peaceful life, which leads to Blayde hitting George's Rage Breaking Point, leading to him delivering a brutal No-Holds-Barred Beatdown to Blayde that absolutely stuns everyone present.
  • Be Yourself: Unsure what to do, Garby settles on a "What would Ty do?" mentality that goes as far as to assigning the roles of the others to his group, getting Click-Clack to be Revvit, Wrecka to be Ton-Ton, George to be Dozer and Auger to be Skya. While that does get them some results, when the fight with D-Structs turns south, Click-Clack encourages to Garby to instead ask "What would Garby do?", which leads to the battle turning around as Garby starts playing to everyone's actual strengths instead of the strengths of their analogs.
  • Boring, but Practical: Compared to everyone else's fighting styles, all George does is a simple ramming attack, but he does it with such force and such speed that Blayde is completely overwhelmed by it.
  • Continuity Nod: Their strength and ability to support the weight of Trux having been well demonstrated, the gang have taken to keeping Shockarachnid coils with them in case of emergency; In this case to use as a tow line.
  • A Day in the Limelight: Again, the team of Garby and Click-Clack get the primary focus.
  • Deus Exit Machina: Besides the plot-related reason for the other Dinotrux to be out of the picture, all the reptools besides Click-Clack also happen to conveniently be away on a trip to the Reptool Ravine.
  • Rage Breaking Point: George really liked the wall they built together, as his voice begins to actually sound a little angry whenever he talks about its destruction. Then Blayde attacking Garby proves to be the last straw.
George: You knock down our leader, you knock down our wall, that makes me... very angry...
  • Ragtag Bunch of Misfits: Garby's titular gang; a Dump that can't aim, an Actual Pacifist and a Drillasaur that can barely see what's going on above ground.
  • Smoke Out: D-Structs again makes his exit by slamming his tail into the ground and disappearing in the dust, this time even taking Blayde with him.
Ty: I gotta learn how to do that!
  • Victory by Endurance: With George refusing to actually fight, Garby suggests he instead try dodging his opponents until they get too tired to fight. George appreciates the concept of fighting without fighting, but he doesn't quite succeed at that.
