After their defeat in the Infinite Forest, the last of the Red Legion Psion leaders return to the Almighty and set it on a collision course for Earth, hoping to take out the Traveler and the Last City. With little choice, Zavala accepts Ana Bray's suggestion and they look to rearm Rasputin to destroy the Almighty.

Season of the Worthy has examples of:

  • The Atoner: The Felwinters Lie quest reveals more information about what happened to the Iron Lords (as shown in the Rise of Iron Expansion), before the collapse the Iron Lord Felwinter was a special exo that could be considered the son of Rasputin, and he deliberately baited the Iron Lords into his bunker and activated SIVA to be hostile because he refused to let anyone else have Felwinter. In the years afterwards he felt remorse, as translated by Ana Bray "And the tyrant looked upon his tyranny, and wept."
  • Colony Drop: The Almighty is comparable in size to Mercury, a proper collision would not leave much of Earth habitable.
  • Godzilla Threshold: For the Red Legion. After suffering so many defeats, they've become extremely desperate. They choose to set the Almighty (having been abandoned since Ghaul's fall) on a collision course with the Last City, all in one last bid to destroy the Guardians once and for all.
  • Macross Missile Massacre: Rasputin uses all the new Warsats and other weapons that the Guardians have powered him up with to launch a massive multi-projectile onslaught upon the Almighty as it nears the Last City. It works, sending the Almighty off-course and having it crash into some nearby mountains, while the City itself is safe.
  • Mini-Mecha: Heavy Frames are this, being much larger, gorilla-esque robots compared to regular Frames. Though they are only a bit bigger than a Guardian, they still possess great power and are a welcome addition to any fight.
  • Mood Whiplash: A possibly unintentional usage. The plot of the season involves arming Rasputin, the last Warmind, with upgraded armaments to destroy the Almighty before it lands upon the Last City... and in the middle of it was that year's Guardian Games, the series' take on the Olympics, causing severe tonal shift from "we have to build a ton of warsats just to stop the Almighty" to "let's do class-based Olympics-style shenanigans!".
  • Recycled Script: Downplayed. While the main plot is a new addition to the story, it shares a few beats with Warmind previously. Namely the fact that Zavala distrusts Rasputin still and Ana being key to accessing and using the weapons Rasputin can make.
