An UnSub uses a drug to make victims suggestible and convinces them to kill themselves. Morgan lies to his aunt that some of the remains belong to her daughter who sent missing seven years ago.

Tropes

  • Brainwashed and Crazy: The UnSub makes his victims suggestible with drugs and tells them to do the killing he wants done. They do.
  • Freudian Excuse: The UnSub grew up suffering at the hands of his abusive father. He projects his past onto James and Gary’s relationship who he thinks is no different than him and his own father.
  • Not Me This Time: Inverted. The UnSub admits to knowing his victims by name and how he knew them, but he doesn’t say Cindi’s name when presented with her picture. Morgan calls his bluff when he pretends to know her.
  • Papa Wolf: Gary spends his last moments alive fighting the UnSub in an effort to protect his son.
  • Stalker with a Crush: Morgan's cousin Cindi fled from one at Morgan's advice.
  • Wounded Gazelle Gambit: Gary feigns seasickness in order to grab the keys for his son’s handcuffs.
