Can we get back to the future? Only time will tell...
The team has returned to where the Ptolemy Dynasty's plans began; 47 BCE. They plan to arrest Nefertiti and Ammon Bast and stop them before they set their plan into motion. To their surprise, however, they find Nefertiti tied up with her heart cut out in a crocodile pond.
Tropes:
- Asshole Victim: Considering all the things they've done, Nefertiti and Ammon certainly qualify for this trope.
- Back from the Dead: Thanks to fixing the timeline, Chief Scott turns up alive and well.
- Becoming the Mask: As it turns out, Nebet had enjoyed her time working the team, and realized in exile she was only truly happy working for justice.
- Earn Your Happy Ending: It took the team several months, but they're finally back home in the proper timeline.
- Oh, Crap!: The first two chapters end on these:
- In 1, Zara and the player encounter the past Jack, putting the time continuum at risk.
- In 2, Kai informs the player that Ammon is missing from his cell.
- One of Our Own: Amy ends up as a suspect after her psych profile is found.
- Redemption Equals Death: After killing her past self and Ammon, Takhat, aka Nebet, fades away from the time stream.
- The Prophecy: Nefertiti created a hologram message to Cleopatra as this, claiming herself to be a goddess that will urge in the era of the Ptolemy Dynasty.
- Temporal Suicide: Takhat is revealed to be an older Nebet, and had killed her past self in order to fix the time stream.
- Wham Shot: The player finding Ammon’s dead body in Chapter 3, marking the first and only time a suspect is killed mid-investigation.
- "Where Are They Now?" Epilogue: The story ends with the Time Division having a barbecue and declaring what they plan to do next:
- Janis will be visiting her grandchildren.
- Theo is going to introduce Kai and Zara to his parents.
- Marina offers to help Orlando get over losing his husband again.
- Jack is chosen to be the poster boy of TIME recruitment posters.
- Amy vows to continue protecting the time stream.
- Penelope plans to write a book about the team’s adventures.
