Cheers.

Elysium Fields is the second district investigated in Criminal Case: Mysteries of the Past.

A fancy district primarily inhabited by the rich elite of Concordia, Elysium Fields possesses many renowned landmarks such as mansions, museums, and even an extravagant chocolate factory, all of which make Elysium Fields the perfect district to throw a fancy and fun party... or maybe six of them.

Elysium Fields primarily focuses on the Flying Squad investigating the true identity of Mr. Alastor, a mysterious and anonymous socialite who every year organizes six soirées for the Concordian elite to attend which, while appearing to be harmless at first, soon turns into something much darker when the team discovers that this year's parties are being thrown with the sole purpose of triggering a murder among the guests.

    Cases Set in Elysium Fields
  1. Let Me Down Gently: The daughter of a mafia don is thrown out of a lighthouse's window during a party.
  2. The Talking Dead: A young socialite has her throat slashed during a seance at an art museum.
  3. Sweet Revenge: A fake socialite is choked to death with chocolate in a chocolate factory.
  4. Let Her Eat Cake: A countess is poisoned with a cyanide-laced cake at a picnic party.
  5. That Sinking Feeling: An artist is bashed in the head with an ice statue aboard the famous Gigantic ship.
  6. Behind the Mask: A media tycoon is stabbed with a saber while attending one last party at a mansion.

Tropes:

  • Arc Villain: Mr. Alastor AKA Archie Rochester, a young rich boy throwing fancy parties which, according to his complicated calculations, will result in the inevitable death of one of the guests at the hands of another, all with the purpose of courting a girl who has been tormented by the aforementioned victims in the past.
  • Downer Ending: For such an early-game district, Elysium Fields manages to end on a very sour note when, after all of the Flying Squad's efforts to capture Mr. Alastor for indirectly provoking the death of six people, he manages to get away scot-free due to technically not killing anyone himself, leaving the team and even the District Attorney disillusioned with the justice system of Concordia. Sure, in the end Archie Did Not Get the Girl he was murdering people for, but such a small punishment might as well not be relevant after all the horrible things he did.
  • Hidden Villain: The main focus of the district is trying to unmask and reveal the person behind the Mr. Alastor guise, whose identity has remained anonymous for pretty much the entire world ever since he made his presence known with his soirées.
  • Nasty Party: Every case of Elysium Fields takes place during a party being hosted by Mr. Alastor, who is only throwing them so someone will commit murder just as his calculations predicted.
  • Recurring Character: The main recurring characters for Elysium Fields are Archie Rochester, Giulietta Capecchi, Diego del Lobo, Vittorio Capecchi, Lady Highmore, and to a lesser extent Wentworth.
  • Shout-Out: The Additional Investigations for Elysium Fields are named "All That Glitters...".
