Right after being promoted to the Financial Center, the player is tasked with solving the murder of Samuel Rye, a stock trader found disemboweled in the stock market center.
Tropes:
- Ambition Is Evil: What Brooke and Kate think of every stock trader. Later in the case, Jones ends up agreeing with them.Brooke: But if you ask me, all stock traders look the same: a bunch of psychopaths in nice suits.Jones: Jeez, how come stock traders are so creepy? Kate was right, they come across as soulless.
- Crucified Hero Shot: How Samuel was found. Unlike the victim in Case 7, Samuel was hung to a pair of monitors instead of using a cross.
- Disproportionate Retribution: The victim constantly bragged about a new deal he'd made with the wealthy Alden Greene. His rival's response? Disembowel him and hang him up on display.
- Green-Eyed Monster: Harry killed Samuel because the latter had been selected as Alden Greene's new stock trader instead of him.
- Gutted Like a Fish: The murderer used a katana to kill the victim like this.
- I Own This Town: Alden Greene towards the Financial Center.Chief King: Here's everything you need to know about him: he practically created the Financial Center and owns a large part of it through his company Greene Holding.
- Katanas Are Just Better: The victim was killed with one, taken from a samurai statue no less.
- Mondegreen Gag: This exchange:Jones: Mrs. Chase, there was indeed blood on the Samurai Helmet... but it belongs to the Samurai.Brooke: Oh my god, to Samuel Rye?!Jones: No, to the Samurai.
- Privilege Makes You Evil: According to Kate, the victim's girlfriend, Samuel became apathetic and devoid of emotion after becoming a stock trader.
- Pun: After finding the corpse of Samuel disemboweled, Jones has this to say:Jones: I guess it's not only the economy that has been gutted!
- Punny Name: The victim’s name is Samuel Rye, or… Samurai!
- Shout-Out:
- Alden Greene resembles Obadiah Stane.
- At the Trading Floor scene, two of the hidden objects are Samara crawling out of a computer monitor and the Eye of Providence.
- In the Table Games scene, there is a banner of a sinister-looking jester, as well as a gag gun.
- This Is Gonna Suck: The last thing Jones says in the case has traces of this.Jones: Let's hope our next case in the Financial Center is less gruesome... but somehow I doubt it.Jones: Something tells me that while the people here are richer than the ones in the Industrial Area, their killers are just as twisted, if not more!
- Welcome to the Big City: In comparison to the run-down and decayed Industrial Area, the Financial Center is much more modernized and less ridden with gangs.Chief King: I'm sure you're going to enjoy this district with its great parks, flashy casinos, high-end bars, and its billion-dollar trading business!
- Western Zodiac: One of the killer's traits is that they're a Sagittarius.
