Tropes:
- Breaking the Fourth Wall: When the evolution screen pops up to announce Froggy's final "evolution," Craig panics and literally grabs it and throws it off-screen.
- Domesticated Dinosaurs: Lampshaded; when Earl jokes that he used to ride on a dinosaur to work, Craig playfully points out to him that dinosaurs and humans did not live at the same time.Craig: It's a fact!
- Eyecatch: Parodies the "Who's That Pokémon?" eyecatches from the anime.
- Homage: The whole episode is an homage to the Pokémon franchise.
- Pintsized Powerhouse: Thanks to Craig's "training", Froggy is able to defeat a large heron.
- Sudden Video-Game Moment: Every time Froggy evolves, a Pokémon-style graphic appears and announces its evolution level. Also, during Craig's Imagine Spot about turning into Bernard, the fight between him and Kelsey and J.P. is done as a first-generation Pokémon fight sequence.
- Turn Out Like His Father: In a variation, Craig is worried that he'll grow up to be boring like his older brother Bernard. He especially freaks out when he puts on Bernard's glasses and Alexis almost mistakes him for Bernard.
