"So what do we do now? Just stand around these 41 holes we've dug?"
A Plot: Brent discovers his parents put money aside for him, but Oscar's forgotten where it is.

B Plot: Karen and Davis are hurt to learn how often people lie to the police, and enlist Wanda as their lie detector. This worries Lacey, who's sharing a secret with Hank.

  • Batman Gambit: When Oscar hints that he left a clue to the money's whereabouts somewhere but refuses to divulge it (because watching Emma and Brent search is too much fun), Emma bluffs that he talks in his sleep and they already found the clue. This leads to Oscar checking where he left it, not realizing that Emma and Brent tailed him.
  • Blatant Lies: Hank believes that the best way to avoid a specific lie being detected is to lie about everything, telling the cops and Wanda that it'll rain lava and that the Ruby's lunch special is rhinoceros burgers.
  • The Confidant: Lacey is trying to keep a secret she shares with Hank, which puts them against Wanda, who tries to prove her Living Lie Detector talent by unraveling it. Ironically, Hank's actually forgotten the secret, and tries to get Wanda to help jog his memory, which Wanda interprets as a I Know You Know I Know mindgame.
  • Dark Secret: Lacey believes she has one, which turns out to be breaking a window at the precinct. When she finally admits it, however, it turns out Hank immediately took the heat for it, and nobody's bothered by her admittance.
  • Entertainingly Wrong: The clue Oscar left for himself to remember the money was the time of his anniversary. However, instead of X and Y coordinates representing the year and day, as Emma assumes (as would most logical people), it turns out to represent the day of the week (Oscar considers Saturday the 6th day) and the hour they were wed.
  • Hypocritical Humor: In The Tag, Fitzy reveals that the broken window Lacey was worried about was actually covered by insurance, so the cops (who spent the episode falsely perceiving everyone else as lying to them) had actually lied when they took Hank's money to pay for it.
  • Literal Metaphor: Oscar's clue to the whereabouts of the missing money was hidden in a "Clue" board game.
  • Living Lie Detector: Subverted, in that Wanda believes she is (and Lacey's worried Wanda is), but her own personal bias has her misread everyone. Davis and Karen are also the inverse, having read that things like "touching your face" is a habit of liars and thus start mistrusting people that are just swatting away a bee mid-sentence.
  • Pirate Booty: Oscar can only remember that he left the money in "the Farmer's Bank", which Emma realizes means he had buried it, leading to them digging up multiple holes in the backyard.
  • "Shaggy Dog" Story: When Brent and Emma finally find the money, not only does it turn out to be less than expected (because Oscar needed to pay for a shovel and a cigar box to keep it safe), but they dug so many holes looking for it that the cash immediately goes to repairing the backyard.
