Final Girl

"Final Girl" was supposed to be the fourteenth episode before the cancelation. Writter Daniel Cerone released the script online on October 30, 2015.You can read it here.

Four friends accidentally kill a bully and drop his body in a well.

Meanwhile, John Constantine and Zed are sent by Manny to investigate activity at Vision Trai. John soon reunites with Judith an old acquaintance from Newcastle.


Tropes present in this episode include:

  • Adaptational Heroism: Judith is a Dirty Coward who turns on the rest of the Newcastle crew in the comics while here she still cares about them and is trying to dedicate herself to fighting evil.
  • Adaptational Personality Change: Judith joined cult after the incident with Astra Logue in the comics, as opposed to becoming a demon hunter.
  • Attempted Rape: Reggie tries to rape Vania upset that she insinuated that he's gay. She responds with a slap.
  • Bearer of Bad News: Constantine telling Judith that Gary is dead.
  • Bittersweet Ending: Constantine defeats the Meat Cutter and rescues Artie and Becca but Judith is still upset at him and Crows gather on a tree as an ominous sign of the Rising Darkness.
  • The Call Knows Where You Live: Judith mentions login home to her parents after Newcastle before having a vision of a killer she then went to stop.
  • Crime of Self-Defense: Reggie is killed by accident while Jackers is trying to stop him in an Attempted Rape. Artie and Becca debate just telling the police right away but in the end they drag his body to the well and Vania throws a rock in after it to crush him upon hearing him alive.
  • Decapitation Required: Judith believes that decapitation is the only way to kill a Meat Cutter for good. As it turns out, it only makes the soul move to another dead body.
  • Driven to Suicide: Brad Howard (the guy whose Meat Cutter shoots up Amy's workplace) after being fired.
  • Dumb Muscle: The script describes Reggie as burly and with a face "that will never be invaded by thought."
  • The Ghost: Judith mentions another previously unmentioned Newcastle Crew member, Frank, but he never appears in person here or in any of the earlier episodes.
  • Hell-Bent for Leather: Judith's attire is described this way.
  • I Regret Nothing: Vania is noted as feeling this way over the group killing Reggie.
  • New Old Flame: Judith and Constantine have an history together and they sleep together when they reunite.
  • No Good Deed Goes Unpunished: The old man who rescues Reggie from the well becomes his first victim.
  • Not Using the "Z" Word: Judith refers to the reanimated corpses as "Meat Cutters".
  • Perpetual Smiler: The script describes Becca as the kind of girl who think happiness adds to attractiveness.
  • Proud Beauty: Vania is described as "lost in the altitudes of her soaring beauty" in the script.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: Sheriff Dowerty is sympathetic when Artie is taking him back to the body, saying that he knows about Reggie's bad reputation and that he is sorry he'll have to arrest them but hopes it can be sorted out given the extenuating circumstances.
  • Sex Signals Death: Vania gets murdered by a possessed Reggie after she had sex with the bartender.
  • Suicide by Cop: Realising that she's responsible for the Meat Cutter, Judith tries to let him kill her only for Constantine to save her against her will.
  • Survivor Guilt: Judith warns sole survivor Amy that she's going to feel guilt for surving the massacre but it's up to her to get over it. It turns out that Judith herself suffers from this after the Newcastle incident.
  • Took a Level in Badass: Judith, since re-vamping herself as a hunter of Meat Cutters. Constantine notes the change. note 
  • We Hardly Knew Ye: The sheriff is killed after less than a page of the script.
