The Six-Gum Gang is stealing everyone's homework on a school bus for the DCFDTL.

Date of Mission: June 25, 2004

Now Loading Tropes:

  • Bittersweet Ending: The Six-Gum Gang succeed in stealing everyone's homework, and it’s revealed they were working for the DCFDTL. However, Mrs. Thompson checks the homework belonging to Numbuh 4 first and goes on an angry rant about how horrible it is, making it a Meaningless Villain Victory for them. Numbuh 4, however, becomes depressed upon hearing Mrs. Thompson thinks his homework is lousy.
  • Cowboy Episode: And how. The school bus is even depicted as a steam train with dozens of cars, so the Six-Gum Gang can pull a proper Train Job.
  • Didn't Think This Through: The Delightful Children were so caught up with stealing everyone's homework, they didn't even bother to check if the homework was actually good.
  • Dramatic Irony: During Mrs. Thompson's angry rant at the end of the episode, she says she bets even Wallabee Beetles could do a better job at spelling than The DCFDTL, not knowing that that was who actually did the homework that triggered her angry rant. Numbuh 4 himself realizes this, and is very depressed by it.
  • Ignored Epiphany: Numbuh 4 is depressed at the end of the episode after hearing his homework criticized and called lousy by his teacher. However, future episodes show his spelling is just as bad, if not even worse, showing he apparently didn't take this experience to heart.
  • Irony: The DCFDTL's plans to steal other children's homework proves in vain when they present Numbuh 4's homework to Mrs. Thompson. It's so horrible that she goes on an angry tirade about how lousy it is and punishes them severely with after-school detention to memorize the whole dictionary.
  • I Warned You: A non-verbal version is given by Numbuh 5 to Numbuh 4. She tells him how his spellings for words are no good, but he just dismisses her, claiming he knows better since he’s a self-proclaimed "genius". At the end of the episode, when Numbuh 4 notices the DCFDTL have his stolen homework, Numbuh 5 stops him from saying anything, allowing them to take the heat and get chewed out for how terrible it is. The last scene shows Numbuh 5 smirking smugly at Numbuh 4 as he sinks down, depressed over hearing his homework criticized.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: The DCFDTL's plan to steal everyone's homework turns out to be a Meaningless Villain Victory since the first paper that Mrs. Thompson checked was Numbuh 4's. They get punished by being forced to stay after school and memorize every last word in the English dictionary.
  • Meaningless Villain Victory: The Delightful Children manage to get away with stealing everyone's homework, but Numbuh 4's homework is the first one Mrs. Thompson reads from the pile, leading her to assign them detention for their terrible homework.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: This episode marks the first appearance of Jimmy, the fourth grade class president (who will have a larger role in later episodes). He tries to reason with the Six-Gum Gang, but backs down almost immediately when his hat gets shot off his head.
Jimmy: Abigail, you're on your own.
  • Stolen Credit Backfire: The DCFDTL hire the Six-Gum Gang to steal the homework of other kids so they can pass it all off as their own while making it look like none of their classmates did the assignment. However they are unlucky enough that the first one to be checked by their teacher was Numbuh 4's, leading to them being massively reprimanded for such "lousy" work and forced to stay for detention and memorize the entire dictionary. This does nothing to comfort Numbuh 4 though, hearing how awful his homework was after spending the entire episode boasting about what a "genius" he was.
