Recap / Code Lyoko S 4 E 4

Go To

A recreation lounge room is unveiled for the students at the academy. William’s body double, created by Jeremy to replace the Lyoko prisoner, is elected student manager. Unfortunately, this version of William has a major flaw: he is absolutely daft. With the clone’s erratic stupidity attracting unwanted attention, Jeremy urgently runs a program to try and recover the real youth from Lyoko. But a bug stymies the program and Xana takes over the tower that controls William’s clone…

This episode contains examples of:

  • Bait-and-Switch: Aelita wants to make sure the program to break William out of XANA's control has worked, but gets tricked as it's still XANA controlling him.
  • Continuity Nod: Vertigo gets referenced again, as well as Odd being class rep.
  • The Generic Guy: William's clone, much to the annoyance of Jeremie, as it means it makes him look stupid, and will attract attention to the fact that he isn't real.
  • Hanging by the Fingers: Ulrich hangs off the gutter on the roof of Kadic's dorms this way, with Sissi hanging onto him. William's clone starts peeling his fingers off, but is deleted Just in Time.
  • Holding Hands: Aelita does this to Jeremie, as she's excited for when they can greet William again.
  • Hope Spot: Ulrich and Sissi are left hanging off the gutter on the roof of the dorms while William's clone prepares to peel Ulrich's fingers off. The clone disappears due to Aelita deactivating the tower, to Ulrich and Sissi's relief, but the gutter breaks from supporting Ulrich and Sissi's combined weight, sending them falling.
  • Ill-Timed Sneeze: Odd tries to fake one in order to disorient the suddenly-overly-competitive William clone at the ping pong table, but gets yelled at by both him and Jim.
  • Offhand Backhand: As William's clone comes under XANA's control, he suddenly tackles and starts to strangle Yumi. Jim comes up from behind to intervene, and is promptly thrown into a shelf for his trouble.
  • Running Gag: Jim was once a ping pong pro, and for once, he'd really like to talk about it.
  • Rooftop Confrontation: Ulrich and Sissi run up to the roof of Kadic's dorms to escape William's clone, but are followed. Ulrich attempts to fight the clone head-on but is quickly sent flying down the sloped side of the roof, hanging precariously off the gutter with the clone coming after him. Sissi slides down the roof, knocking the clone to the ground and hanging off of Ulrich. The clone falls to the ground but quickly gets back up and runs back into the dorms and back up to the roof.
  • Undying Loyalty: Sissi displays this toward Ulrich, refusing to abandon him even as William's clone attacks, sliding down the roof to attack the clone and later imploring him to drop her when they're hanging off the roof to save himself.
  • Wounded Gazelle Gambit: Jérémie's program to find William seemingly works, as William appears, being chased by XANA's monsters. He's almost defeated by XANA's monsters until Aelita saves him, expressing her delight at seeing the real William. Until of course, he reveals he was faking the entire time.
