As Lelouch realizes that the Emperor's destination is not the now devastated Tokyo Settlement, but Kamine Island, Emperor Charles puts his master plan into motion. Ruins similar to the one on Kamine Island begin to activate, their energies converging on Kamine Island...
On the Ikaruga, Anya's eyes suddenly turn red. She approaches C.C., revealing that Anya is actually acting as a vessel for Lelouch's mother, Marianne! She dispels C.C.'s amnesia and asks why she didn't let Charles take her Code.
As the Black Knights discuss how to proceed now that Zero is indisposed, and Lelouch makes his approach to Kamine Island in the Shinkiro, Suzaku demands to sortie in the Lancelot Albion, an upgraded version of the Lancelot currently in R&D. When Schneizel arrives on the Avalon, Suzaku, in a startling display, demands the prince promote him to the Knight of One. When Lloyd points out that such a promotion can only be made by the Emperor, Schneizel declares that he would take the throne to oblige Suzaku's request. Gino is left aghast: Schneizel and Suzaku now speak of treason against the throne! Schneizel explains that Emperor Charles is not fit to rule: he considers war and matters of life and death trivial, and such a man should not be allowed to lead Britannia. Suzaku asks for permission to carry out an assassination on the Emperor, explaining to a shocked Gino that his previous ideals were naive and obsolete: the only thing that matters in the end is results.
On Kamine Island, Suzaku goes after the Emperor as he walks towards the ruins of Kamine Island, but is rebuffed by Bismark Waldstein, who appears to also possess a Geass power that causes Suzaku's Geass command to "Live" to react. Lelouch arrives on Kamine Island not long after, several Britannian Knightmare pilots under the thrall of his Geass holding off the main forces and throwing the military into disarray. Marianne, piloting the Mordred via Anya with C.C. in tow, takes advantage of the discord to make her own way to Kamine Island.
Emperor Charles puts his plan to kill "God" into motion upon the Sword of Akasha, when he is approached by Lelouch. Charles warns Lelouch that he cannot be defeated: he is immortal and immune to Geass. Lelouch, however, has a contingency plan: he sets off a remote charge on Kamine Island, on the ruins that served to allow passage to the Sword of Akasha. Their one way out destroyed, Lelouch and Charles are now forever trapped inside the otherworld of the Sword of Akasha!
