- Answer Cut: When Ms. Shoop finally realizes that Clarence is missing, she asks Sumo if he’s seen him. Cut to him laughing hysterically as he watches Clarence board the wrong bus. He seems to be the only one who saw where Clarence went, yet replies to Ms. Shoop that he has no idea.Sumo: There he goes again!
- Can-Crushing Cranium: After chugging a bottle of a Pepto-like liquid, Ms. Shoop crushes the bottle against her forehead.
- Class Trip: Clarence’s class is taking a field trip to a soda factory and Clarence gets on the wrong bus after the group stops at a gas station for a bathroom break.
- Department of Redundancy Department: Clarence tells Jimmy that he can’t be a “weirdo bathroom weirdo” forever.
- Funny Background Event: When the kids receive a hat during their visit to the soda factory, Jeff can be seen trying to fit it over his square head with little success.
- Good-Times Montage: One plays of Clarence having fun with all his new friends at West Aberdale Elementary.
- Grass is Greener: Clarence seems to have a lot more fun at West Aberdale Elementary than he does at his own school, even during boring classes. This could be caused by the newness of this different school. The fact that West Aberdale appears to be a private school with uniforms, student ID cards, and a lot more money than Clarence’s public school could also contribute.
- Mistaken Identity: After getting on the wrong bus on the way to his class’s field trip, Clarence ends up going to West Aberdale Elementary and is mistaken for the school’s new student, Jimmy Chakraborty.
- Not Where They Thought: When Clarence comes back from the gas station, he mistakenly enters the bus to West Aberdale Elementary instead of Aberdale Elementary. He realizes that he's on the wrong bus when he sees a kid he doesn't recognize in one of the seats.
- Parrot Expo What: Clarence’s reaction when Jimmy tells him how to actually pronounce his last name.Clarence: Chakra-what?
- Really Moves Around: It’s revealed that the real Jimmy Chakraborty lets Clarence take on his identity so easily because he moves around a lot and would rather just go through school unnoticed without any friends rather than to have to start the whole process over again next time his family moves.
- Reading the Stage Directions Out Loud: Clarence becomes determined to help Jimmy make friends, so he writes a script for him to read at lunch to introduce himself. Jimmy is clearly very nervous and uncomfortable with the whole thing.Jimmy: I am the new kid at your school, but I am also the new kid at your cool. (Plays Air Guitar).
- Say My Name: Ms. Lofton and Ms. Shoop both say each other’s last names when they see each other. And then when Shoop drives away with Clarence and Sumo, Lofton screams her name into the sky.
- Shout-Out: The “Mustache Manny” toy that Clarence buys at the gas station is a reference to the “Wooly Willy” toy of the 1950s.
- Slow "NO!": Sumo yells out one of these as the principal of West Aberdale Elementary is about to hand Clarence the student ID card for Jimmy Chakraborty, which will seemingly cement his place at the school.
- Vengeful Vending Machine: One of things Clarence does that gains him popularity at West Aberdale is saving a kid’s snack that got stuck in a vending machine by sticking his hand up into it.
