Recap / Castle S 7 E 20 Sleeper

Go To

Castle begins having recurring dreams about the time he went missing. However, things take a turn when one of the people he saw in his dream is found dead.

  • Boom, Headshot!: Castle finds one of the mercenaries from his dream dead in his apartment with a bullet in his forehead. Later, Beckett finds the body of the stripper who identified the killer with the same fatal injury in the same apartment.
  • The Bus Came Back: Beckett's therapist Dr. Burke returns, this time to help with Castle's dreams about his missing two months.
  • The Cavalry: Jenkins shoots the assassin Ilya just before he could shoot Castle.
  • Dream Intro: The episode begins with Castle's dream about his missing two months.
  • Defector from Decadence: Castle's old school friend Bilal (whom Castle didn't remember thanks to Laser-Guided Amnesia) was a commander in Al-Qaeda before he had second thoughts and decided to defect to America, and his knowledge was crucial in stopping a terrorist attack.
  • Memory Trigger: Castle only caught a brief glimpse of Ilya in a news report, but that was enough to trigger dreams of his missing memories from his disappearance, at least part of which was spent in northern Thailand.
  • The Reveal: Castle was abducted because his former classmate Bilal, an ex-Al-Qaeda commander looking to defect, was almost killed meeting his CIA contact and wanted someone both famous and familiar to him to accompany him to his next meeting in order to guarantee his safety. The reason it happened on Castle's wedding day was because a major terror attack was about to happen soon and they couldn't wait any longer.
