"People with Money" is the 1st episode of Season 3, and the 48th one overall. It originally aired September 20, 2006.
Synopsis:
Det. Jessica Angell and Dr. Peyton Driscoll, M.E., are introduced and are immediately faced with two unusual cases. A man is found dead on the Brooklyn Bridge by a pair of nude bungee jumpers. Meanwhile, a woman is found dead on the floor of her apartment with pillows attached to her hands.Tropes for the episode:
- Connect the Deaths: Inverted. A killer is identified because he'd turned on the lights in his downtown office suite, breaking the pattern of lights in which the victim had spelled out "Marry Me," as a grand romantic gesture.
- Improvised Weapon: The man on the bridge has been stabbed to death with a Statue of Liberty key chain, which is found imbedded in his gut.
- Making Love in All the Wrong Places: The nude bungee jumpers intended to have sex on the Brooklyn Bridge, but were interrupted. The young woman is later shown to be having sex with someone else while bungee jumping from another bridge.
- Scars Are Forever: Mac's scar from the 1983 Beirut bombing is visible during his first scene of the episode.
- Sexy Discretion Shot: Mac & Peyton are shown in bed together having obviously just had sex, but the audience is not privy to the actual encounter.
- Shirtless Scene: Mac, in bed with Peyton right after the opener.
- Zero-G Spot: The couple bring their bungee-jumping gear to the Bridge to engage in "bungee sex." This is later revealed to be the woman's personal favorite kink.
