Baby Be Mine: Mark, blinded by his grief and the accusations of his wife over the death of their son (due to a rare illness), kidnaps the infant son of another couple ... and he ain't giving him back.
Five Stages of Grief: Both guest characters in this episode – Dr. Mark Sloan and his wife, Ruth – go through this. Early on, Ruth is so grief-wrought and so angry and in denial that she screams for her husband to get away from her. Later, Mark, also in deep denial and angry that he could not save his unborn son's life, kidnaps the baby son of another woman.
Misdirected Outburst: Ruth snaps at her husband, Mark, blaming him for neglecting the welfare of their son and causing him to die of an illness (which in the end the illness was terminal).
