Recap / Bobs Burgers S 12 E 22 Some Like It Bot Part 2 Judge Bot Day

Go To

As Tina infiltrates Wagstaff after hours to destroy the "Wow or Weird" touchscreen, the Belchers attempt to stop her before she gets herself into trouble.

Judge-bot Tropes:

  • Blatant Lies: Even ignoring that the Belchers already know her plan to destroy the touchscreen, Tina lying that she's at school to do her homework in secret is very unconvincing.
  • Chekhov's Gun: One of the "Wow or Weird" segments in the previous episode depicted Tammy's new braces and called them "wow". Tammy later states that the braces were the entire reason she started "Wow or Weird" in the first place; she wanted to hype them up to avoid getting teased for them.
  • Dance Party Ending: Tina writes a new ending for her erotic friends fiction where, instead of breaking the mind wiper, she reprograms it so that all the robots have a dance party on the factory, which continues over the end credits.
  • Does This Remind You of Anything?: The Belchers trying to talk Tina out of destroying the touchscreen sounds like they're trying to talk her out of something a lot more dangerous.
  • Dumb Blonde: It takes Tammy an embarrassingly long time to realize what Tina is doing in the newsroom, even though Tammy catches Tina raising a hammer right in front of the touchscreen.
  • Hypocrite: Tammy has the gall to call Tina a bully for calling "Wow or Weird" bad.
  • Irony: Tina writes a note in her notebook discussing her plan to destroy the touchscreen saying it'd be cool if her family never found out about it. Said note is the only reason the Belchers find out.
  • Karma Houdini: Tammy and Jocelyn never get punished for bullying others for "Wow or Weird", just as Mr. Grant never gets punished for willingly allowing it to continue, though Tammy does at least try to make up for it by replacing it with a more uplifting segment.
  • Luck-Based Search Technique: Linda, Gene, and Louise tear Tina's room apart looking for her erotic friend fiction. Once Bob walks into the room, he finds it in five seconds just by taking a seat on the chair where Tina stores it.
  • New Job as the Plot Demands: Yuli the security guard, last seen working at the OMG Mall, is back to working the after-hours shift at Wagstaff.
  • No Ending: Tina's Blade Runner-themed erotic friend fiction peters out with most of its major plot threads unresolved. Instead, Tina writes a new ending in which she reprograms the mind wiper so that it makes the robots dance.
  • "Not So Different" Remark: As Tammy reveals that she started the "Wow or Weird" segment because she didn't want to be judged for her braces, Tina notes that both of them are afraid of getting judged.
  • Pet the Dog: After spending the two-parter being a bigger asshole than usual, Tammy covers for Tina and lets her escape Wagstaff when she could otherwise sell her out to Yuli.
  • Pop-Culture Pun Episode Title: Just like last episode, the first half of the episode title is a reference to Some Like It Hot. The second half of the title trades out the Blade Runner reference for a Terminator 2: Judgment Day reference.
  • Previously on…: Instead of the usual opening sequence, we get a brief recap of the events of the previous episode.
  • Ransacked Room: By the time Gene and Louise arrive home, Linda had already made a mess looking through Tina's room for her friends fiction. Bob later finds all three making an even bigger mess, and shows them up by accidentally finding it within a minute of entering the room.
  • Shout-Out:
  • Skewed Priorities: Yuli temporarily stops searching for the intruder at school when his friend Greg calls him to help design a T-shirt online.
  • Supreme Chef: Bob's spirits are finally raised when he overhears two customers (one of whom is implied to have been there before) talk about how good his food is.
  • Token Evil Teammate: Louise actively encourages Tina to destroy the touchscreen, even as the other Belchers are warning her not to.
  • The Unreveal: It seems like the end of the episode is poised to reveal the bathroom vandal—a random customer who's never been seen before—when he begins to talk about the quality of Bob's food. Instead, it turns out that the customer and his friend both like the food, and in the end it's never revealed who wrote the graffiti.
  • With Catlike Tread: Tina makes quite a bit of noise during her trek through Wagstaff, knocking over a microphone and monologuing out loud. Somehow, Yuli the security guard doesn't find her, and the Belchers only find her when they see her through a window.
