  • Bland-Name Product: Cake is an obvious take-off on Stomp.
  • Cosmetic Catastrophe: Tammy and Tina's "makeover".
  • Didn't Think This Through: Linda doesn't realize until Bob points it out to her that Tina reading her Erotic Friend-fiction to school to avoid Tammy's blackmail isn't a good idea.
  • Disproportionate Retribution: Tammy blackmails Tina into acting out by threatening to give Jimmy, Jr. Tina's erotic fan/friend-fiction that Tina wrote about him. When Tina fails to show up for a double date and ruins Tammy's chances with Zeke, (since Tina got grounded for trying to sneak out of the house with Linda's margarita mix, using the family's emergency phone to text Tammy, and calling Linda a boob punch) Tammy decides she'll just read it to the entire school.
  • Early Installment Weirdness: Tammy has brown hair and different colored lips in this episode. It's established in later episodes that she dyed her hair blond.

  • Explain, Explain... Oh, Crap!: Linda only realizes how bad an idea Tina reading her erotic friendfiction in front of the student body is when she finishes explaining it to Bob.
  • Fake High: Tina and Tammy drink Linda's margarita mix. They think they're getting drunk, but the mix is non-alcoholic; Louise points out that Linda uses it to fill the hummingbird feeder.
  • The Freelance Shame Squad: All the students in the cafeteria laugh at Tina's bizarre "erotic friend-fiction". Fortunately for Tina, they're distracted by Tammy's flatulence, and start making fun of her instead.
  • Freeze-Frame Bonus: By pausing, you can see which shows Tina writes fanfiction of, it includes: The Simpsons, Twilight, Bones, Garfield, The Lord of the Rings and many, many more.
  • Gasshole: Tammy gets her comeuppance when she farts loudly in front of the entire school.

  • Hypocritical Heartwarming: When Gene and Louise find out that Tammy is blackmailing Tina, they decide to get even, even though they themselves were blackmailing her as well.
Gene: No one blackmails our sister but us!
Louise: Yeah! Messing with Tina is a privilege, not a right!
  • I Do Not Like Green Eggs and Ham: Bob is at first skeptical about going to a patty cake stage show, but after watching it, he becomes obsessed with it.
  • Kick the Dog: Tina gets on the receiving end of this twice, her siblings blackmail her into doing their chores and Tammy blackmails her into keep doing crazy things with her.
  • Narm: In-universe, Tina's erotic fan fiction comes off to Tammy as hilarious rather than sexy.
  • Off-Model: When sitting down and getting ready for "Cake", Linda's legs are shown to be more realistically drawn than the usual spindly look.
  • Ship Tease: There's some between Tina and Jimmy Jr., as well as between Tammy and Zeke.
  • Shout-Out:
    • Tina has already written erotic fanfiction of all shows she knows, it's possible to see which ones by pausing the video when the books are being shown.
    • The fanfiction in which Tina is running around the cafeteria touching people's butts resembles the Apple Mac 1984 Super Bowl ad, and is named Buttloose.
    • A movie theater is showing Neverending Gory.
  • Tastes Like Purple: Gene says of Tammy's fart that "my ears can smell it!"
  • Uncanny Valley Make Up: When Tammy gives Tina a "makeover", she puts so much make-up on Tina that the Pesto twins mistake the girls for "bathroom clowns".
  • "Walk on the Wild Side" Episode: Tina starts behaving wilder because of Tammy's influence, but ends as a subversion as Tammy keeps Tina on the wild side by blackmailing her.
