Recap / BoBoiBoy S1 E3 "Multi-Monster Mayhem!"
aka: Bo Boi Boy S 1 E 3 The Multi Monster

Go To

Tok Aba recaps last week's episode, still rather in disbelief of the entire ordeal. BoBoiBoy finishes explaining the recent events to Tok Aba, who then comes to the conclusion that Ochobot is actually his robot since he was powered with his cocoa. Ochobot starts work at Tok Aba's Cocoa Shop as a result.

BoBoiBoy is playing ball by himself when Adu Du tells Probe to dispatch his new monster. Meanwhile, BoBoiBoy is about to break his kicking record but is interrupted by Gopal, who insists that he help him unlock his superpowers. They test for sight in the darknote , Super-Toughness, and even laser eyes while playing ball, but nothing comes out of their attempts. Probe shoots a laser which deflects the ball in mid-air towards a dump of toxic waste. BoBoiBoy blames Gopal, but he runs away before he can get him to get the ball. BoBoiBoy is forced to go in and retrieve it by himself.

He tries fetching his ball from atop a pool of green goop with a plank, disrupting a mass which suddenly moves. A green yellow-bellied beast rises and roars at BoBoiBoy, who makes it clear that he was sent by his master to destroy him. When the monster appears to crush him with his hand, the bad guys act triumphant, but BoBoiBoy Wind jumps from behind. The one who was apparently squashed earlier, BoBoiBoy Earth, grasps him in an earth wall while Wind blows him into the trap. Earth explains that he used his Triple Split earlier while he was busy talking. Multi Monster asks where the third is, and Lightning promptly replies and fries him with a lightning bolt.

Computer explains to Adu Du that Multi Monster would form two monsters when defeated, and those clones would subsequently do the same. The elemental trio battle two, then four, and eventually more than a hundred come to form - but they're all shrunk; the Multi Monster turned out to be dividing itself the whole time. Too small to be a threat, they flee, but one gets picked up by BoBoiBoy, who interrogates him to learn of Adu Du's plan. Multi Monster suggests it may be kidnapping his friends. BoBoiBoy sets him free before finding his friends to warn them.

Adu Du later does in fact intend on kidnapping BoBoiBoy's friends. While ringing Gopal's doorbell, BoBoiBoy catches sight of Probe chasing Ying. She manages to make Probe's sleeping gas missiles hit himself instead, but Probe shoots sleeping gas at her anyway when she's distracted, and successfully kidnaps her. BoBoiBoy finds Gopal to get his help.

This episode provides examples of:

  • Big Little Man: When the Multi Monsters form a horde of themselves, the elementals appear disdained while Adu Du thinks that he's won. But the camera zooms out to reveal that the Multi Monster was in fact an Asteroids Monster and its sheer numbers had shrunken the duplicates.
  • Exact Words: Following from the last episode when BoBoiBoy argued that Ochobot was his robot since his cocoa was used to activate him, Tok Aba then states that Ochobot was his robot with that logic since Tok Aba's cocoa was stolen to activate Ochobot.
  • Evil Laugh: Adu Du's cackle is Played for Laughs twice.
    • After Adu Du tells Probe to dispatch Multi Monster, Adu Du starts an escalating evil laugh - which Probe also joins in. Adu Du snaps at him to go do the task he was given.
    • During the montage of BoBoiBoy fighting Multi Monster's clones, Adu Du laughs evilly so much that he chokes and coughs, interrupting the montage. Computer offers him water but he just commands to continue the montage.
  • Gilligan Cut: When Computer tells Adu Du that she failed to locate Ochobot, Adu Du figures that he must be somewhere secret. Then Ochobot is seen in an apron at the open stall of Tok Aba's Cocoa Shop sweeping rubbish.
  • Montage: After they defeated four Multi Monsters, a montage ensues of the elemental trio battling more and more of them with the Theme Tune playing in the background, while Computer displays their growing numbers onboard Adu Du's ship, who laughs evilly.
  • Obfuscating Stupidity: Ying approaches a defeated Probe, demanding to know why he was chasing her. He initially claims that he wanted to return her purse, which she doesn't buy since she doesn't have one. Probe admits he was simply stating that to distract her before spraying her with sleeping gas, immobilising her.

Probe's Distraction

It seems Probe failed his task of capturing Ying. When she confronts him to ask why he chased her, Probe replies that he wants to return her purse, but she doesn't have a purse. Probe admits he only said that to distract her, and sprays her with sleeping gas before making off with her.
