Despite being in no position to do so alone, Jefferson confronts Tobias Whale, who has been preparing the final stage of his plan.
- Ain't Too Proud to Beg: After initially acting like his cocky self, Red is quick to beg Jennifer for mercy, once she overpowers him.
- Armor-Piercing Question: Hassan asks Chief Lopez if she is really willing to force her officers to be possibly corrupted by the metaboosters, the same way her husband was. It gets her to call off her plans initially.
- Assassin Outclassin': Even though Ishmael gives Painkiller one hell of a fight, he ultimately still dies.
- Bare-Handed Blade Block: Painkiller catches Ishmael's final sword attack with his bare hand, without it being cut in half.
- Cliffhanger: Tobias calls Jennifer, sending her a picture of Jefferson, apparently dead.
- Combat Pragmatist: Painkiller grabs one of Ishmael's swords and poisons the hilt, so he dies after picking it back up.
- Computer Virus: Gambi has a whole collection of them, all the way back to the '80s, which he gives Grace and Anissa to wipe the servers of the facility where the stolen meta genes are stored.

- Tobias mentions planning on taking control over all the metahumans in Star City and Metropolis as well.

- Engineered Public Confession: Jennifer livestreams while Chief Lopez rants about her hatred of Metahumans.
- Eviler than Thou: Tobias takes control of the Shadow Board, killing one of its members, when they try and pull a You Have Failed Me on him.
- Freudian Excuse: The reason Chief Lopez hates metas is because her husband went mad with his powers and killed her brothers.
- Heroic Rematch: After boosting her powers in the ionosphere, Jennifer makes short work of Red.
- Honor Before Reason: Jefferson insists on facing Tobias alone, despite Gambi's protest.
- I Am Not Left-Handed: During her fight with Red, Jennifer initially plays possum to distract him, then overpowers him with a mighty blast.
- If I Do Not Return: Jefferson to Lynn, before facing Tobias.
- Ignorance Is Bliss: Grace convinces Anissa to not tell the mothers involved in the phony cystic fibrosis treatment the truth to not break their hearts.
- I'm Standing Right Here: Looker, when Khalil turns her over to Hassan and Special Agent Mason.
- Ineffectual Death Threat: When Looker threatens Khalil that Tobias will have him killed by having his spine ripped out, he just tells her "Been there, done that." in a bored fashion.
- Internal Reveal:
- Jennifer learns how Alvin Pierce died and Tobias learns that Jefferson was there that night.
- Lauren learns about Lynn's family being metahumans.
- It's All My Fault: Jennifer still blames herself for Uriah's death, though Jefferson is quick to tell her that it's not her fault.
- I Want My Beloved to Be Happy: Khalil still refrains from going to Freeland and visiting Jennifer, thinking she is better off without him.

- Kneel Before Zod: After killing one of their members, Tobias has the Shadow Board bow down before him.

- Pay Evil unto Evil: Jennifer plans to kill Red for what he did to Uriah. Fortunately, TC ultimately manages to talk her out of it.
- Shipper on Deck: Lynn tells Lauren that Peter has never been happier after meeting her again.
- Unflinching Faith in the Brakes: Ishmael, after stopping Khalil's car.
- Villainous Breakdown: After her hateful rant towards metahumans goes viral, Chief Lopez undergoes one, ultimately injecting herself with the metaboosters.
- Would You Like to Hear How They Died?: To taunt him, Tobias tells Jefferson that it was him who killed Alvin (which he already knows, of course).
- You Are Better Than You Think You Are: Jefferson gives Jennifer a pep talk, urging her to go back out there as Lightning, as she is the only hero the city has right now.
- You Have Failed Me: Ishmael reveals that he was not only tasked to kill Khalil, but also the Looker. This makes the latter reconsider on testifying against Tobias.
