  • Awesome, but Impractical: Jennifer wants this kind of suit, much to the others' bemusement. She learns why practicality is important the hard way.
  • The Bus Came Back:
    • Lala comes back after not being seen since the Season One finale.
    • Lala's hallucinations of LaWanda and Will return with him.
  • Good Angel, Bad Angel: The hallucinations of LaWanda and Will serve as this to Lala: LaWanda trying to persuade him to do the right thing, Will trying to get him to act like a gang-banger.

  • Hate Sink: Agent Odell, had gone from just being a jerk to downright cruelty in record time. It's now made crystal clear he's a Sociopath who only sees the pod kids as weapons to be used, not humans. Something emphasized when he puts Wendy through a grueling power test that could've killed her. And then it's revealed he's been spying on the Pierce family, having hacked into their home, and then he casually kills all the other agents who he's had spying on them — it's implied he has plans to blackmail Jefferson into service.
  • Have You Told Anyone Else?: Odell confirms with his surveillance team that they are the only ones who know about his monitoring of the Pierces, then kills them all so that only he has access to it.
  • Internal Reveal: Henderson finds out Todd was killed just as he's setting out to pick him up for questioning.

  • I Was Quite a Fashion Victim: Gambi brings out Jefferson's original costume, much to the amusement of Lynn, Jennifer, and Anissa.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Jefferson has this when he realizes he inadvertently got one his students killed by having them go to the police, which got him killed by Tobias' goons.
  • Mythology Gag: Gambi shows off Jefferson's old suit which resembles the original one from the comic books.
  • Only a Flesh Wound: Lala shoots Jefferson in the chest. He just pulls the bullet out and cauterizes the wound with his powers, and suddenly he's fine somehow.
  • Sinister Surveillance: Odell has planted spy cameras in the Pierce home.
  • Start of Darkness: We find out Lala's. He was a smart student but also another poor kid dealing drugs for the One Hundred just to get by. But he decided to wanted to stop being poor and decided to do so by moving up in the One Hundred's ranks. So to prove his mettle to Tobias he killed his best friend Earl — a kid who got out petty drug dealing for the One Hundred, but then he went to the police on Jefferson's advice and he got marked by a dirty cop on Tobias' payroll so Lala took him out as a twisted Mercy Kill.
  • Wham Shot:
    • Lala walking into Garfield High.
    • The episode ends with Agent Odell spying on the Pierces confirming he does indeed know their secret.
