Asta and Noelle go to the Royal Capital to be rewarded for their exploration of the Dungeon. However, complete chaos breaks out when the capital is attacked by a group of mysterious terrorists. Asta and the other Magic Knights fight to protect the innocent civilians against the group, whose motives are unclear.
Tropes:
- Arc Villain: Rades Spirito, who uses his Wraith Magic to have his corpses attack throughout the Capital.
- Dynamic Entry: Asta plows through a wall of flames before smashing through a bunch of zombies to save a little girl.
- Episode of the Dead: This arc deals with the Magic Knights fighting against the zombie army created by Rades's Wraith Magic.
- Evil Is Petty: Rades wants to destroy Clover and kill everyone inside the kingdom simply because he was exiled from the Magic Knights for his dangerous magic. He even gloats that "reasons are best when they're simple!"
- Unknown Rival: Played for Laughs. After seeing Asta fight, Leopold declares him his rival. Asta accepts but also asks Leopold what his name is.
- Wham Episode: Fuegoleon is left on the verge of death, comatose and having lost his right arm and magic stone, by the Eye of the Midnight Sun after being teleported away.
