Tracey: Gawd, 'ow the memory plays tricks.
Sharon: "Plays tricks"? Takin' the piss if you ask me!
Tracey Stubbs and Sharon Theodopolopodous after hearing Dorien discuss her past with Luke.

  • Date First Aired: 26/01/1998

Sharon has shown a desire to come to the latest Class Reunion, as she had been given an invitation by her old school bully. Dorien tries to calm down Sharon by reminding her not to dwell on the past... until she comes across Luke, her old toyboy from Series 1 and 2. Dorien still loves him and decides to go out on a date with him, even though he's married now and, as she finds out on the date, he only wants her as a friend.

At the reunion, Tracey comes face to face with Poxy Loxy, who once again tries to seduce Tracey. However, Tracey manages to lure him away, just before Margie Harris shows up. Unfortunately for Sharon, she's in a wheelchair, making her reluctant to release her revenge. Well, until Margie Harris gives her the last laugh by giving her chili cake.

Tropes in this episode:

  • Accidental Misnaming: One of the former schoolmates of the sisters calls Darryl "Darren", although it's Subverted when it turns out that he was referring to a different Darren - turns out that he's at the wrong reunion.
  • The Bully: Margie Harris was not a pleasant person to Sharon, being extremely cruel to her, humiliating her, and stealing her bus fare. She would also stuff Sharon into a dustbin and keep her there until the bell went.
  • The Bus Came Back: Luke, last mentioned to have had a fling with Dorien in "Commitments" after having broken up with her in "Falling in Love Again", not only is mentioned again, but appears in the flesh for the first time.
  • Casanova Wannabe: Much like last time, Poxy Loxy tries to seduce Tracey.
  • Celebrity Resemblance: Sharon makes a sarcastic comment about being mistaken for Cherie Blair.
  • Continuity Nod: Poxy Loxy returns and once again tries to seduce Tracey.
  • Class Reunion: The episode revolves around the sisters being invited to a school reunion by Sharon's old bully. It doesn't go well for either - Poxy Loxy tries to seduce Tracey, whilst Margie Harris manages to get the last laugh on Sharon.
Sharon: I've never been to a school reunion.
Tracey: Well, tha's fair enough. You never really went to school.
  • Disability as an Excuse for Jerkassery: Margie Harris is in a wheelchair by the time of the Class Reunion. She still fondly remembers the time she shoved Sharon into a dustbin, and then feeds her chili cake as a prank.
  • Fictional Document: Dorien makes up one when snarking at Sharon:
Tracey: They can do you up summin' rotten. There's books about it, in't there, Dor?
Dorien: Oh, yes, Done up Something Rotten by Sigmund Freud. A definitive work.
  • Finger Extinguisher: Dorien extinguishes one of her candles with her finger after her hoped-for date with Luke goes terribly wrong. She immediately winces in pain upon doing so.
  • Freudian Excuse: According to Sharon, the reason why she's big was because Margie would stuff her into dustbins. Hence, she deliberately stuffs herself so that she could never suffer through that again by being too big for it.
  • The Ghost:
    • Mr. Boyd, who Tracey calls to try and organise a cleaning deal with only to get an obscene proposition.
    • Mrs. Horton, Luke's wife.
    • Sharon O'Reilly, Tracey O'Reilly and Darren, people who the classmate Sharon mistakes for Billy Parker mistakes Sharon, Tracey and Darryl for.
  • Hypocrite: Dorien tells Sharon that one shouldn't dwell on the past... until she comes across Luke, causing her to reminisce about the past.
  • Ignoring by Singing: Tracey starts humming loudly to try to drown out Sharon when she goes on about how cruel Margie Harris was to her.
  • Just Friends: Luke hopes to be this with Dorien, which just makes her feel old.
  • Malaproper: Poxy Loxy says "hosepipe" when he means "horseplay" and "psychotic" when he means "psychic".
  • Mistaken Identity: Sharon and an unknown classmate mistake each other for Sharon O'Reilly and Billy Parker.
  • Naked People Are Funny: The final shot of the episode is Poxy Loxy bursting out of a cupboard fully naked in front of the sisters.
  • One-Word Title: The title of the episode is simply "Baggage".
  • One-Shot Character: Luke Horton and Margie Harris.
  • One-Steve Limit: Sharon remembers a classmate called Billy, the same name as a One-Shot Character from "Muesli".
  • Reunion Revenge: Sharon hopes to seriously maim Margie Harris at the reunion to get back at her for her years of bullying, but can't go through with it once she sees she's now in a wheelchair. She changes her mind after Margie tricks her into eating chili cake though.
  • Romantic Candlelit Dinner: Dorien tries to have one with Luke when they're on a date.
  • Schoolyard Bully All Grown Up: Margie Harris proves to be just as much of a bully to Sharon as an adult as she was when she is a child.
  • Series Continuity Error: "In at the Deep End" established Poxy Loxy as a former acquaintance of Darryl's who Tracey hardly remembered. However, this episode has him as a former classmate of Tracey's.
  • Shout-Out:
    • Dorien makes up a fictional Sigmund Freud novel.
    • Dorien compares her affair with Luke to Cleopatra VII and Mark Antony, and Horatio Nelson and Lady Hamilton, while Sharon sarcastically remarks they were more like Rod Hull and Emu.
    • When Dorien says she feels like a fourteen-year-old, Sharon remarks "Lock up the Boy Scouts".
    • When Tracey asks Dorien how she's going to fit into a small dress, Dorien tells her the secret is only known to her and select members of The Magic Circle.
    • Dorien lies to Luke that she had to stop watching Channel 4 because it was too exciting.
    • Poxy Loxy tries to make Tracey "an offer she can't refuse".
  • Speak in Unison: Sharon and Tracey both say "Fancy!" after Dorien says it in front of Luke.
  • Stuffed into a Trashcan: Margie Harris used to stuff Sharon into dustbins when she was little, which is why according to Sharon, she stuffs herself.
Sharon: Being entrapped in a dustbin is traumatic. You don't know what effect it could 'ave!
Tracey: Oh, you mean that's why you've always 'ung around with rubbish?
  • Sucky School: If we're to believe Sharon, the school which she and Tracey went to (Woodberry Down Comprehensive) wasn't even really a school and only called itself that to get a free milk.
  • Take That!:
    • Sharon snarks about being confused for Cherie Blair.
    • Sharon disgustedly calls Dorien and Luke's relationship "something out of Jackie Collins".
    • Tracey hates the Antiques Roadshow, but would still rather watch it than stay at the reunion.
  • Tempting Fate: At the reunion, an annoyed Tracey says that at least things can't get any worse than this. Cue Poxy Loxy showing up.
  • Unseen No More: Luke, Dorien's old unseen toyboy from the first two series, finally makes an appearance in the flesh.
  • Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: Sharon lies about having a fear of the dark, then the light, when trying to find ways of how Margie Harris made her life hell.
