  • Big Bad: Bitters is the main antagonist of the Katie and Jennifer's subplot. He works to make their jobs unnecessarily hard as Assistant Manager just so that he'd hope they slip up and quit so that he'll inherit room 2J which is one of the most lavish and largest suites in the Palm Woods hotel.
  • Caligula's Horse: The secret music advisor is revealed to be a chimpanzee named Lolo, something BTR finds shocking.
The boys: A MONKEY PICKS THE DEMOS!!??
Mercedes: No, a chimp. And if he claps, you're in; but if he makes a fart noise, you're out. And sometimes I think daddy loves Lolo more than me...
  • Character Development: Buddha Bob and Jennifer were on bad terms before back in "Big Time Bad Boy" as Jennifer thought he was a psycho serial killer and even attacked him. Here, Jennifer and Buddha Bob work together to streamline the ridiculous tasks Bitters gave her.
  • Determinator: Jennifer won't give up her job as Assistant Manager of Palmwoods no matter how insane of a task Bitters gives her, she'll do it for Katie no matter what.
  • Fallen-on-Hard-Times Job: Jennifer has to start working for Bitters when the record company suspends paying for room 2J.
  • Idiot Ball: Carlos is tasked with baking cookies for Mercedes. He takes out the cookie pan from the oven without any gloves on, giving him burns and making him drop the cookies to the ground.
  • I Lied: Mercedes admits she lied about being the Music Advisor cause she wanted BTR to date and pamper her. To make up for it, she agrees to help them be the selected album that wins the Demos competition.
  • Jerkass Realization: Mercedes being told off as being pushy and assertive by Kendall really hits her hard, and she comes to apologize but also admit that she lied about being the Music Advisor just to milk as much servitude out of BTR as she could.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Mercedes may be demanding and spoiled, but she wants to redeem herself and works to help BTR win the Demos competition.
    • She ultimately does succeed in keeping BTR alive by convincing her father Griffin that Vampirah (BTR's greatest competitor in the demos) will soon fall out of trend and will only last a short-term of 1 to 2 years while BTR's music that combines pop and melody is inspirational enough for generations to come. Griffin is so impressed by Mercedes' detailed explanation for preferring BTR that he makes Mercedes his new musical hit-predicting adviser and transfers Lolo to missile defense.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: Bitters ends up doing the literally dirty work he burdened Jennifer and Katie with after BTR gets their contracts renewed.
  • Noodle Implements: All we know about the band's plan to chimpnap Lolo was that it involved disguising James as a cop and dressing Logan in middle-eastern garbs.
  • Obfuscating Insanity: Played for Laughs. Jennifer is tasked with evicting a burly biker, so she gets Buddha Bob to pretend to be a chainsaw wielding maniac to scare the guy into leaving.
  • Pride: James takes great offense to Mercedes not wanting to date him, once she reveals it's because she doesn't date guys more attractive than her, he's cool with it.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: Griffin plays this when he understands how Mercedes reveals how she feels of BTR and that Lolo is wrong about them, and the vampire fad will die off eventually unlike them. Thus, he transfers Lolo to missile defense and makes Mercedes the new adviser, and BTR wins.
  • "They've Come So Far" Song: "Halfway There", the song the boys record in the end.
