While Andrew prepares for a momentous evening with Bernie, Nick sets out to meet his secret grandfather, and Jay cooks up some romance for Matthew.

- Big "WHAT?!": Everyone else in the room says this after Marty brandishes a knife and asks the rabbi if he's schtupping his wife.
- Bizarre Alien Biology: Maury reveals that Hormone Monster breasts produce Mountain Dew, Code Red on the left and Classic Green on the right.Montel: Yeah, but the green Dew gives me hard poo-poo.
- Breaking the Fourth Wall: After the song is over, Bernie arrives at the Glouberman's home and asks if she missed the song.Andrew: You did. You just missed it. Come in.
- Flipping the Bird:
- Andrew notes that Barbara is doing this as she drives away after her fight with Marty.
- Nick flips both fingers as he and Elliot leave Seamus' house.
- Freeze-Frame Bonus: You can clearly see Barbara Flipping the Bird if you pause as the car is driving past the window.
- Has a Type: The rabbi says that he isn't attracted to Barbara because he's only interested in muscular women.
- Insignificant Anniversary: Matthew gives Jay a gift for their one month anniversary.
- Invisible to Normals: Matthew sees Suzette & Brad as an inanimate pillow and couch cushion.
- Masochist's Meal: Nick eats dirty, insect infested oatmeal and beer with a spoon that has bird shit in it to impress his grandfather.
- Men Can't Keep House: Seamus' kitchen is shown to be filthy, and the only things you can eat or drink there are beer and oatmeal, the latter of which has molds and insects in it.
- No Good Deed Goes Unpunished: After Nick realises what a filthy bastard his grandpa is and his dad comes to pick him up, Nick is content to leave him to rot. Nick's dad decides to help him, because it's the right thing to do, and brings him back home with him. Seamus ends up corrupting both Nick and his father later on in the season, when, again, they could have just left him and got the hell out of there.
- Oh, Crap!: Andrew realizes that his night with Bernie is ruined after Marty accuses the rabbi of schtupping his wife.
- Running Gag: People keep asking if the person they are talking to meant to say 15 or 50 when the latter gives the amount of minutes it would take for something to happen.
- Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Marty accusing her of cheating on him with the rabbi is the last straw for Barbara, who leaves the house in tears.
