Tadashi?!
After going through a haunted house, Hiro begins seeing Tadashi everywhere.

Meanwhile, Fred makes it his mission to scare GoGo.

Tropes in this episode:

  • Absurd Phobia: Honey Lemon and GoGo reveal that they are afraid of hippos and leprechauns respectively.
  • Augmented Reality: All the Tadashis and the rest of the gang's phobias were on special projector contact lenses that Obake covertly put on them at the haunted house.
  • Bad "Bad Acting": GoGo's attempt to pretend Fred scared her so he'd stop trying. Fred doesn't buy it for a second.
  • Bilingual Bonus: "Obake Yashiki" means "Monster House" in Japanese.
  • The Bad Guy Wins: In the end, Noodle Burger Boy gets away with the giant magnet and is able to deliver it to Obake for whatever evil plan he’s preparing for.
  • Call-Back: There's a brief flashback to Tadashi's death in Big Hero 6, but animated in the style of the show.
  • Chained by Fashion: Fred wears a bunch of chains when he’s acting like a ghost to scare GoGo. They end up causing him to get stuck to Granville’s giant magnet, ruining the moment.
  • Comedic Underwear Exposure: Excited that they’ll be able to wear their Halloween costumes to the haunted house, Fred rips his clothes off, forgetting that he’s not wearing his costume underneath and showing his Goofy Print Underwear.
Fred: Oh! Thought I was wearing my costume...
  • Comically Missing the Point: When a prop skeleton pops out of the floor of the haunted house, Baymax's first reaction is to note that it's not anatomically correct.
    • Later, he begins rewrapping a prop mummy's bandages to provide better healing.
  • Determinator Fred refuses to give up on his mission to scare GoGo.
Fred: Frederick Frederickson does not give up! I will scare you GoGo, just you wait. Just you wait!
  • Didn't Think This Through: When Hiro pulls out a bunch of wires to disable the flying Buddy Bot…that he’s riding on top of.
    Hiro: Should’ve thought that through!
  • Edible Ammunition: Noodle Burger Boy spits a stream of pickles out at GoGo which she slips on, letting him get away.
  • "Eureka!" Moment: Both Hiro and GoGo realize that the kinetoscopes at the haunted house placed projector contact lenses on them disguised with the puff of air.
  • Failed Attempt at Scaring: Fred has horrible luck with trying to scare GoGo, but he keeps trying every year.
  • Failed Dramatic Exit: Fred tries to make a dramatic exit after vowing to scare GoGo, but he keeps running into the closed door on the tricycle he’s riding.
  • Foreshadowing: For Tadashi to tell Hiro "You don't need limits" is a giveaway that it has Obake written all over it.
  • Genre Savvy: Hiro tracks down the stolen shipment of Buddy Guards to a skyscraper, but the tracker can't tell what floor it's on. Fred asks if there's any construction in the building.
Fred: I bet that's where Noodle Burger Boy is. Villains love exposed pipes, beams and plastic tarps.
(Cut to the gang sneaking up on Noodle Burger Boy, who is working on a computer in the middle of the construction zone)
    Wasabi: (Astounded) Good call, Fred.
  • Ghost Butler: The door to Mr. O’Hare’s House of Scares slams shut and locks behind Hiro.
  • Halloween Episode: The episode begins on Halloween and carries over into the next few days.
  • Haunted House: The group visits a haunted house that has guaranteed frights and it ends up exposing them to their absolute worst fears.
  • Hope Spot: Hiro almost believes for a moment that Tadashi is alive, but it turns out to be an illusion set up by Obake.
  • Immediate Self-Contradiction: Wasabi isn't even finished denying that he's jumpy before he leaps onto a table, freaking out because he mistook a blueberry on the floor for a cockroach.
  • Kissing the Ground: Wasabi does this once he realizes he’s on solid ground...and is then grossed out by what he just did.
Wasabi: Wait, what am I doing?! So gross!
  • Lovable Coward: Wasabi’s cowardliness is on full display in this episode.
  • Moral Event Horizon: Played with in-universe. Obake hasn't truly hurt anyone physically, but emotionally, he tricked Hiro into thinking his dead brother was alive somehow. Wasabi and Fred lampshade that this is a new low for Obake.
  • Never Say "Die":
Baymax: Hiro, I am sorry but Tadashi could not have been here. Tadashi is -
    Hiro: I know.
  • Out-of-Character Alert: "Tadashi" telling Hiro he doesn't need limits and that he shouldn't waste his time fixing Baymax confirms for Hiro that it's not really his brother.
Hiro: ...Don't fix Baymax, you don't need limits... You're not my brother.
  • Paper-Thin Disguise: Fred's first attempt to scare GoGo has him masquerading as her ancestor by simply wrapping himself in chains, and powdering his face and clothes. Even if he hadn't done the same thing several years in a row, she wouldn't have bought it for a second.
  • Series Continuity Error: Given the show’s lack of alternate designs or wardrobe, Tadashi in the flashback is seen wearing his white shirt instead of the black one that he wore in the film’s version of events.
  • Shout-Out: "I find your lack of fear disturbing."
  • Unexpectedly Dark Episode: A fun Halloween episode in which the characters face their somewhat goofy fears, turns into Hiro being teased with the possibility that the brother he lost tragically may actually still be alive - only for that hope to be crushed.
  • Vehicle Vanish: Hiro sees Tadashi across the street but after a truck passes by, he disappears.
  • Wham Shot: Obake watching footage of Tadashi, from Baymax's video archive.
  • "What Do They Fear?" Episode: Each member of Big Hero 6 reveals their biggest fear, which is then used against them throughout the episode.
  • Ye Olde Butchered English: "Methinks the lady doth be afraid."
