Go To

The Mad Jacks are trying to steal a hard drive Alistair Krei bought at the black market. Hiro insists on helping in spite of being ill.

Tropes:

  • The Bad Guy Wins: Kreitech has been compromised, and Obake now knows who Hiro is.
  • Captain Obvious: Upon being asked how many heroes they should expect, the Mad Jacks' leader tells them that, since they're called "Big Hero 6", they must be somewhere between five and seven.
  • Corrupt Corporate Executive: Krei bought something at a clandestine auction, but we're never told what it is Krei is looking for.
  • Freeze-Frame Bonus: The Mad Jacks' full disclaimer text only shows up for a few frames and is not fully voiced. The last complete sentence is easy to miss and describes a possible Freudian Excuse for their daredevil lifestyle.
"This life is definitely not because you lost a puppy when you were a kid but your parents refused to address your grieving emotional state, which later manifested in a repeat pattern of negative ways to get attention."
  • Internal Reveal: Obake now knows Hiro is one of the Big Hero 6.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: Karmi may be a jerkass but she has a point when she calls Hiro out on how he shouldn't pick up a fruit from the stand and put it back there, ESPECIALLY if he's sick.
  • Job-Stealing Robot: Dr. Sheila views Baymax as this for diagnosing Hiro's illness at the same time she's trying to do it and doesn't envy the idea of robots like Baymax replacing human doctors like her.
  • Leeroy Jenkins: Upon finding out that the Mad Jacks have raided Kreitech, Hiro goes after them alone. He ends up with two hairline fractures on his leg.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Krei keeping evidence of Hiro being the leader of Big Hero 6 on his hard drive leads to Obake learning it.
  • Paranoia Gambit: Obake's real goal when he hired the Mad Jacks to steal Krei's hard drive was to trick him into installing it on his computer without having his experts check it first out of fear one of them is the mole that informed the Mad Jacks about the hard drive. It works and Obake now knows Krei's secrets and Hiro's status as one of the Big Hero 6. To be fair though, either option would've led his systems to be compromised, since the chip contains a Trojan.
  • Planet of Steves: Every member of the Mad Jacks - even the sole female member - call themselves Jack. Hiro points out how ridiculous it is.
  • Robot Me: To get around having to stay in bed, Hiro builds a remote-controlled robotic version of his suit that he can control from his room.
  • Sick Episode: Hiro gets the flu and has to stay in bed.
  • Skewed Priorities: Upon learning that the Mad Jacks are the most expensive mercenaries available, Krei feels flattered that whoever wants his hard drive would hire them.
  • Wham Episode: Obake finds out Hiro is the leader of Big Hero 6.
  • Working Through the Cold: Hiro insists on going on patrol while sick, despite his team mates' objections. The first time he attempts it he gets a broken leg, so now he can't help but get bed rest.
