Recap / Big Finish Doctor Who NEDAS Stranded S 1 E 4 Divine Intervention

Go To

As the Doctor becomes desperate, Helen and Liv advise him to accept their situation.

Liv makes a date - but gets more than she bargains for when the whole household comes along.

And when a threat from the future finally arrives, the Doctor is placed in real danger. It’s time for the truth to emerge...

Divine Intervention contains examples of:

  • Continuity Nod:
    • In order to jog his memory about a particular cricket match, the Doctor remembers reading the newspaper story about it in Heathrow Airport.
  • Foreshadowing:
    • The titular Divine Intervention marketing scheme doesn't actually play a very big role in this story, but is prominent and mysterious enough to make it clear that it will be returning at some point.
    • Ron and Tony seem to know much more about the Doctor than they are letting on. They don't reveal this to the TARDIS crew, deciding to "let them enjoy it all while they can". The next boxset would reveal that both of them were UNIT soldiers in the Third Doctor’s era and had an encounter with the Eight Doctor.
  • Game Show Appearance: The Doctor competes on a show called You Either Know It or You Don't. He ultimately wins the grand prize.
  • Private Tutor: Helen has been hired to be this for Robin by his parents.
  • Temporal Paradox: When the Doctor is nearly killed by visiting time-travellers because of actions they believe he will commit in the future, the damaged TARDIS is able to absorb some energy from the paradox to help repair itself.
