Ian Chesterton awakes in a section of a museum dedicated to his life as one of the first humans to travel in time. The museum has been invaded by a species that feed off of memories, or so Ian is told by Pendolin, the curator and last survivor of the attack in the museum other than Ian himself. As the two go on the run from the invaders, Ian relives his many adventures with the Doctor, only to finally figure out the truth of his situation, and to note how if he's learned one thing from the Doctor, it's when not to interfere...
- Cannibalism Superpower: Pendolin's diet is the memories of those he preys upon. The memories of time travelers are the most nourishing of all. He's also a Big Eater, having eaten the memories of every living creature in the Time Museum.
- Continuity Porn: Just about every one of Ian Chesterton's television stories is referenced over the course of this story, with a few Big Finish stories thrown in as well. Mentions are also made of other Doctor Who stories and races that Ian had nothing to do with. The Sontarans and Rutans are referenced, as are the Eternals.
- Shout-Out: Pendolin's museum includes a Sontaran ship.
- Underestimating Badassery: Ian proves skilled enough to outmanoeuvre his captor even with his fragmentary memories.
