The fate of the Greens' legacy rests in their hands...
Chipocalypse Now

The ultimate battle for Elkins Street commences when Chip announces not only the Greens' house is going to be demolished for the expansion plan, but also the buildings surrounding it. Cricket must rally up his family to fight for what's right so they can save their home — and ultimately their legacy — and defeat Chip once and for all.

"Chipocalypse Now" contains examples of:

  • Answer Cut:
Hansock: Well, that would certainly change things. But where's the proof?
(Cut to Cricket ascending through the vent, proof in mouth)
  • Art Evolution: The Remingtons' mansion looks much more shaded than it appeared in Season 1, and the megastore and night lighting effects seem to be twice as improved.
  • Art Shift: While the series is usually hand-drawn with digital ink-and-paint, Sugarcube animated this particular episode in Toon Boom, resulting in the animation having more obvious tweening than usual, just like the studio's work on Star vs. the Forces of Evil and The Owl House.
  • As You Know: The episode begins with the Greens recapping the events of last episode to Nancy, who just stopped by to ask what they think of her new hat.
  • Between My Legs: One of the scenes in the Special Edition Title has Chip's legs step into the foreground before the Green house, with the family in the space between them.
  • Big Damn Heroes: The Greens' neighbors showing up just in time in the final battle, to stand up for them against Chip.
  • Big "NO!": Cricket and Tilly scream one in unison when Chip detonates Big Coffee and the apartment complex. They shout another when Nancy is getting arrested again.
  • Big Stupid Doo Doo Head: One of the password suggestions is "Cricket's a dumb doo-doo baby."
  • Big "WHAT?!": Chip's reaction when he is banned from Big City.
  • Bittersweet Ending: Chip is banned from Big City for good, Elkins Street is returned to normal and the Greens' legacy is safe once more. However, Big Coffee remains out of business with its building now reading "For Rent", Cricket and Gloria are still jobless, and Gloria, with no money nor rent and no place to live, decides to take up residence in the Greens' house for the time being. And we have yet to learn if Chip's dad ever found out the truth.
  • Bond One-Liner: By Cricket after Chip is slung out of Big City, helicopter and all.
Cricket: And that's how you launch a chicken into space.
  • Borrowed Catchphrase: After blowing up Big Coffee and the apartment building to make room for the new Wholesome Foods store, Chip turns to the Greens with a Psychotic Smirk and declares "Bingo bango."
  • The Bus Came Back: Brett and Mr. Grigorian (plus Anoush) finally return since we've last seen them in the Season 1 finale.
  • Call-Back:
    • Remember when the Greens almost lost their house in "Family Legacy" which got repeated every generation? Yup, it's time to save the farm again, and for real this time.
    • Just before Chip detonates Big Coffee and the apartment complex, Cricket brings up launching a chicken into outer space. He brings it up again when Chip's helicopter is launched into the sky thanks to the telephone pole wires.
    • Tilly and Anoush are still close friends.
    • Bill mentioned how Nancy got arrested breaking into an industrial dairy farm, revealing that she did it because the company that owned it was threatening the family farm.
  • The Cameo:
    • One of the neighbors having been evicted from the apartment complex is the librarian Tilly called in the Random Rings shorts.
    • All the Big City residents who come to the Greens' aid at the end include Nancy's old biker gang, Andromeda and even the pepper salesman from "Feud Fight".
  • Cerebus Retcon: Back in Season 1, we get a flashback of Nancy getting arrested due to releasing cows from a dairy factory. This episode reveals why she was doing that — the factory was threatening the Greens' farm, and resulted in them losing it to another family and moving to Big City.
  • Chair Reveal: How Mayor Hansock is introduced.
  • Community-Threatening Construction: All three main buildings of Elkins Street (Big Coffee, Elkins Apartment, Green house, in that order), are being blown up by Chip to make room for the new Wholesome Foods Megastore.
  • Continuity Nod:
    • Cricket's attempt at launching a chicken into space in "Space Chicken" was brought up twice.
    • Back in "Coffee Quest", Chip's former henchman Greg said he didn't have a chopper; he actually does get a chopper in this episode.
    • Gloria mentions Cricket's feud with Chip is the reason Big Coffee was shut down; this was most likely referring to the forgiveness contract the family signed in "Reckoning Ball" when they believed Chip changed his ways so he could take over his dad's position as CEO, which all led right up to this.
  • "Could Have Avoided This!" Plot: And an exaggerated case at that. Most of Season 1 and the first 20 episodes of this series wouldn't have happened if Cricket didn't trick Chip into accepting all the fake food products (despite the former's warning) and chipped his tooth before turning against the Greens and attempting to run them out of the Big City. Not to mention that Cricket treating Chip like a joke drove this entire debacle and made it worse.
  • Crazy-Prepared: Alice had anti-tank defenses build in the front yard to stop Chip's bulldozers.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: Chip is defeated in an instant, his helicopter skids getting caught on powerlines causing him to stop inches away from Cricket's head, and when he lets go of the yoke, he is slung out of Big City.
  • Darker and Edgier: Oh, where to start? Big Coffee and the apartment complex are destroyed. The people living inside the building are left homeless. Cricket and Gloria are jobless. Gloria cannot pay her rent and is presumably evicted from her apartment. Most importantly, Greens' home is next on the demolition agenda, and they have to fight to save their legacy before Chip ends it forever! And the part where Cricket and the Greens nearly die? That's the icing of it!
  • Determinator: Cricket stops at nothing to battle Chip and help his family protect their legacy.
Cricket: Listen up, Chip! If I can find a way to launch a chicken into space, I can find a way to stop you!
  • Didn't Think This Through:
    • When issuing the false destruction petition, it didn't occur to Chip that not everyone would want the Greens' home destroyed, given their Character Development and how much the city has grown to love them and accept them as part of the community. He just straight-up puts their names on the petition without thinking, Remy's in particular, prompting Cricket to confront him and eventually realize the petition was fake.
    • It also didn't occur to Chip that destroying the Greens' house won't technically run them out of the city, as Bill is shown looking up various city apartments (in their price range) to move to should Chip win. They could also move in with someone they know, Remy for instance.
  • Downer Beginning: The episode starts with Big Coffee shut down by Chip (in the events of the previous episode) and Cricket jobless, the Greens' neighbors moving out, Big Coffee and the apartment building being detonated, the Wholesome Foods Megastore being constructed around the Greens' house, and as it couldn't get any worse, their house is Chip's final target.
  • Dynamic Entry: Remy is happily sitting in his room when suddenly he is tackled by Cricket yelling "Betrayal!" after having found Remy's signature in Chip's petition. After the two have figured out that the signature was forged, Tilly tackles Remy the same way before Cricket fills her in.
  • Earn Your Happy Ending: Totally. Cricket and the Greens face their problems head on, and in a final battle, they finally defeat Chip and his goons, saving the farm a second time, Chip's true colors are revealed to the city, he is fired from Wholesome Foods and banned from Big City forever, Gloria moves in with the Greens, Elkins Street is restored back to its former glory (but Big Coffee is gone for good), and the Greens become true heroes.
  • Evolving Credits: The Big Coffee scene of the end credits is now empty and vacant, with the wet floor sign replaced with one for Don & Dawn realtors.
  • Exactly What I Aimed At: Bill assaults Chip's goons with chicken feed. Naturally, that doesn't even slow them down, but that wasn't what Bill was aiming for; the feed was bait for the chickens to attack them.
  • Eye Scream: When the jackhammer-riding workers get attacked by chickens, one of them gets poked in the eyes.
  • Face Death with Dignity: Most of the Greens, barring Cricket, are seen crouching and wincing in fear as they prepare to face imminent death in the hands of Chip's helicopter.
  • Failure Is the Only Option: If Bill's plan to move to a cheap city apartment (in their price range) is of any indication, not even destroying the Green's house would have gotten them out of the city, meaning that all of Chip's actions would have been for nothing, and the Greens won't leave Big City no matter what. And even if he gets to destroy the apartment building they chose to move to, who's to say they wouldn't just move to another? Or possibly move in with someone they know like Remy's mansion? And even if they did left the city in that case, Wholesome Foods sure could get some blacklash for destroying two apartment buildings and leaving many people homeless. In any case, Chip wouldn't get the happy ending he wants.
  • Family-Unfriendly Death: Getting your body sheered by a helicopter's rotor.
  • Fatal Flaw: Cricket immediately sees this in Chip's last attempt to kill the Greens with the helicopter; by divebombing straight down toward them, the skids got caught on some power lines and it stops just inches away from his face, just before he gets slung far away.
  • Five-Second Foreshadowing: When Chip's helicopter hovers over the Greens after Bill saves Cricket, it can be seen positioned in a way the phone lines could be caught in the skids, which is exactly what happens.
  • Foregone Conclusion:
    • As high as stakes are, the Greens, their house, Big Coffee, and all of Elkins Street have to survive by episode's end, because they appear in Cricket's imagined future in "Time Crisis". Big Coffee, however, remains out of business. The promo for the first half of S2's final ten spoils that the Greens won and got to keep their house and the street is back to normal.
    • Despite Big Coffee and the Elkins building being busted to bits and replaced with the superstore, they appear fully intact by the next episode (and in the promo for the January episodes), showing they have to be restored and rebuilt before the episode ends. However, only the building Big Coffee operated in was rebuilt, and a “For Rent” sign, along with Gloria stating she lost BOTH her jobs, implies that the coffee shop is truly gone for good.
  • Foreshadowing:
    • When Nancy escapes into the hallway with Chip's tablet, she is heard uttering "Come on, come on, come on..." as if appearing to use it. It is later revealed she forwarded it to Bill's phone so Cricket can find out the truth.
    • As a distraction for Chip's goons, Remy pretends to be a lost boy in need of his daddy. Sure enough, Russell is one of the citygoers who stand up for the Greens.
  • Given Name Reveal: Several on Chip's forged petition. Kiki's surname is revealed to be Kitashima, Sue's is Lanemoto, and Brett's is Eze; Mr. Grigorian's first name is Alucard, and Weezie's real name is Westley Eastman. The only character who does not have their surname visible is Benny.
  • Headphones Equal Isolation: When Cricket is vowing to defeat Chip while the apartment neighbors are moving out, Chip does not hear him, on account of wearing earplugs for the demolition of the apartment.
  • High-Dive Escape: Cricket manages to avoid getting killed by Chip's helicopter by jumping off the megastore roof, grabbing onto the grand opening banner which gives way due to his weight, which he then slips from, finally landing safely in Bill's arms.
  • History Repeats: Yup, the Greens' farm has to be saved again since they discovered this in "Family Legacy", and for the first time this generation, they had to save it twice (three times if you counted "Reckoning Ball", but that was indirectly).
  • Hope Spot:
    • When Cricket, Tilly and Nancy ask Mayor Hansock to save their home, the Mayor is eager to help (mainly because he's afraid that people don't like him), but then Chip arrives with a (fake) petition for the Greens to leave Big City.
    • Cricket has printed out proof that Chip faked the signatures on the petition, but then the papers get blown away and are shredded by the blades of Chip's helicopter.
  • Hostile Show Takeover: Chip gets to hog the theme song in a lot of scenes, which replace the Greens having fun to getting tormented or bothered by him. Even the show's logo falls over in front of the Greens.
  • Huddle Shot: Cricket, Tilly, Gramma and Remy have one when discussing together how to hold back Chip while the boys sneak into the megastore to find the proof.
  • Immediate Sequel: This episode picks up where "Chipwrecked" left off.
  • Incoming Ham: "BETRAYAL!!!"
  • Infernal Background: Chip is presented this way just before the theme song begins.
  • Ironic Echo: "Bingo...bango." The first is said by Chip mockingly to Cricket after destroying Big Coffee and the apartment complex. Cricket then says the same exact thing to Chip in the climax, just before he is slung out of Big City.
  • Ironic Echo Cut:
Nancy: We're gonna talk to the mayor!
    (Cut)
Nancy: What do you mean, we can't talk to the mayor?!
  • Irony:
    • In spite of wanting to run the Greens out of Big City, Chip ends up running himself out instead, both the town and presumably the Earth.
    • After Chip gets banned, the Greens are happy their home is saved, but Chip is not done with them yet and that doesn't mean the Greens themselves are safe as well.
  • I Want My Mommy!: The "daddy" variant is used by Remy as he pretends to be a lost kid to distract Chip's goons so Cricket can escape.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: Gloria actually does have a point when calling out Cricket for his feud with Chip resulting in Big Coffee shutting down; this was all because of him and his family thinking Chip changed his ways and signing that forgiveness contract, so he can take over Wholesome Foods.
  • Know When to Fold Them: While Alice and the kids still want to fight Chip, Gloria, having lost her job when Big Coffee was demolished, feels she has no choice but to work at Wholesome Foods; while Bill, having lost his farm for the second time, feels it's futile to resist and decides to just move out. Eventually, both decide to join the others in defending the farm.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: After everything Chip did to the Greens, and especially for trying to kill them as well, he rightfully gets his comeuppance by getting banned from Big City forever. On top of that, he gets flung far away while inside his helicopter.
  • Let Us Never Speak of This Again: Gloria says this as she is moving in with the Greens.
  • Little "No": Said by Chip when his tooth breaks again just before the helicopter is launched into the sky.
  • Loophole Abuse: According to the law, Chip cannot destroy the Green house until next day; he decides to initiate the demolition at midnight, because midnight marks the start of the next day.
  • Mass "Oh, Crap!": All of the Greens plus their neighbors are genuinely horrified as Chip tries to murder the family one last time.
  • Mid-Season Twist: Chip is banned from Big City, Big Coffee is now vacant, and Gloria now resides with the Greens.
  • Mistaken for Betrayal: Chip writes up a petition with recreated signatures from everyone in Big City, leading Cricket to assume everyone hates him and his family. He especially acts like this to Remy (who was one of those who presumably signed it), but Remy admits he didn't sign any petition, leaving Cricket to realize Chip lied and the petition is fraud.
  • Mood Whiplash: When Chip is attempting to kill the Greens with the helicopter one final time, Cricket instantly goes from "Oh, Crap!" to sheer determination when he discovers a Fatal Flaw in his plan.
Cricket: (with a determined smile on his face) COME AND GET ME, CHICKEN!
  • Multi-Part Episode: This episode serves as part 2 of the "Chip takes over Elkins Street" storyline.
  • Murder Is the Best Solution: As a last resort upon being permanently banned from Big City, Chip attempts to kamikaze Cricket and the Greens. Cricket jumps from the roof just in time to avoid the first blow, swinging from the grand opening banner before landing safely in Bill's arms; the second time, the chopper is caught on power lines and slung away. And the way Chip's helicopter was angled the second time, all of the Greens' friends would've been mauled, too.
  • Near-Death Experience: Cricket was almost killed to shreds by Chip's helicopter blade, but he jumped off the roof and Bill safely caught him. The same then almost happened to the entire family, but the skids get caught in a phone line and the helicopter is sent far away.
  • Near-Villain Victory: The Wholesome Foods Megastore is built over the Greens' house, resulting in gardening almost impossible, and the family almost moves out. And Cricket manages to gather proof that the petition is fake, only for Chip to destroy it. If Nancy hadn't forwarded the petition to Bill's phone and Cricket hadn't realized the petition was fake, and if all of Big City didn't show up to stand up for them, Chip would've won. And an even worser situation follows immediately after when Chip goes full-on loco over Cricket and the Greens, which culminates with him nearly killing them if it weren't for his chopper getting caught on the power lines and slinging him far away.
  • Never Say "Die":
    • Chip obviously tries to murder Cricket and his family in the climax, but he never acknowledges said term in any way. Nor does he ever say "die" or "kill".
Chip: Now... I can get rid of all the Greens AT ONCE!!!!!!!! (goes Laughing Mad as he tries to kamikaze his helicopter into the Greens, just before Cricket sees a Fatal Flaw)
    • Averted earlier when Cricket says "Those goons are so dead." Chip also uses "the human death machine" at one point.
  • Nice Job Fixing It, Villain: Chip does this twice:
    • First, he never considers the the possibility of the Greens having a close friend who wouldn't want any harm to come to them, leading him to include Remy's signature among the ones in his petitions, which in turn leads to Tilly and Cricket confronting Remy and realizing the petition is fake.
    • Later, he accidentally lets go the steering wheel of his helicopter when it gets stuck in the wires, causing him to get flung by the sky. When Cricket tells him, that Chip is the one who doesn't belong in Big City.
  • Nightmare Face: Chip has one, complete with crazy eyes, as he attempts to kill Cricket and the Greens one last time prior to getting slung out of town, though it's not nearly as threatening as the one he gave at the end of "Reckoning Ball".
  • "No More Holding Back" Speech: Tilly gives one to Bill about not holding back and standing up for one's self, when their farm is threatened to be destroyed. Her speech is broadcast by Channel 11 News all over Big City, inspiring the citygoers to do the same.
Tilly: Well, I'm glad she did! Mama knew the risks, but she couldn't stand by while our family was under attack. And now, the Green family is under attack again! Maybe we are just the little guys... but if we stand together as a family... we have a real chance to turn things around. And I won't give up on our home while there's still a chance. Isn't our family worth fightin' for?
  • Nothing Is the Same Anymore: Chip is banned from Big City for good, Gloria now resides with the Greens, and most notably, Big Coffee is now vacant and presumably gone forever.
  • Oh, Crap!:
    • The Greens, Cricket especially, are absolutely horrified to see the café and apartment complex get demolished before their eyes.
    • Cricket and Tilly when Nancy gets arrested again.
    • Bill when he sees Chip's wrecking crew round in on the house.
    • Cricket when all the evidence gets ripped to shreds by Chip's helicopter, followed by an even bigger one when he is almost killed by it prior to jumping to safety. Tilly and Bill have the same reaction to the following, Bill especially.
    • Then all of Big City (with Cricket having the biggest) when Chip tries one last time to kill the Greens, just before Cricket's realization and Mood Whiplash.
    • Chip has the biggest one of all when he inadvertently lets go of the helicopter controls, just prior to getting launched far away.
  • 1-Dimensional Thinking:
    • Chip's final attempt to take down the Greens with his helicopter would've worked if he just maneuvered the helicopter down and then forward, instead of just straight down at them. Cricket actually sees this flaw.
    • In the same example above, the Greens (and their neighbors) could've just run away out of the chopper's flight path to avoid getting hit rather than just stay where they are looking horrified (just like when Cricket quickly jumped off the roof just mere seconds before), though Cricket does a good reason with staying where he is so he can notice Chip's Fatal Flaw.
  • Papa Wolf: Bill was downright horrified when he saw his son almost get killed, and was quick to catch him after he jumped off the roof to escape (and right after Cricket screamed that someone had better catch him).
  • The Password Is Always "Swordfish": As they try to access the petition on Chip's computer, Remy figures the password is some variation of "Cricket is a [insulting description]". Sure enough, he's right.
  • Persona Non Grata: As his comeuppance for almost destroying the Greens' legacy and using his CEO job for evil, Chip is banned from Big City forever.
  • Police Are Useless: When Keys sees Chip attempting to kill Cricket and the Greens with his helicopter upon being told by the mayor he's banned, he does nothing, and disappears for the rest of the episode. Granted, murder would've gotten Chip in even more trouble, as he noted in "Reckoning Ball" when defending the family.
  • Pop-Culture Pun Episode Title: The episode title is a pun on Apocalypse Now.
  • Pre Ass Kicking One Liner: Just after immediately realizing a Fatal Flaw as Chip attempts to murder the Green family with his helicopter, Cricket shouts, "Come and get me, chicken!"
  • Pre-Mortem One-Liner: Cricket says his trademark "Bingo-bango" just before Chip's helicopter gets slung far away and out of Big City.
  • Previously on…: The Green family recap the events of the previous episode to Nancy, who only came over to ask what they thought of her new Stetson hat.
  • Rapid-Fire "No!": By Cricket when all the proof gets shredded by Chip's helicopter blades.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure:
    • Keys becomes one, feeling touched by Tilly's Rousing Speech that he realizes Chip lied and decides to release Nancy.
    • Mayor Hansock becomes one when he discovers Chip faked the petition and all of Big City wants the Greens to stay, prompting him to cancel the demolition and ban Chip for good.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Gloria gives one to Cricket thanks to his feud with Chip resulting what's going on now.
Gloria: Do I need to remind you that your feud with Chip is the reason Big Coffee got shut down? I don't need family right now. I need a job! Besides, you're making everything worse! I spent all day cleaning up your mess; I'm over it!
  • Recycled Soundtrack: The musical cue used during the scene of Chip's helicopter being slung to parts unknown is the same tune used in "Space Chicken" when Cricket launches the final chicken and it disappears. It is followed by a Call-Back to the aforenoted episode.
  • Red Filter of Doom:
    • When the café and apartment complex are demolished, the sky and tinting become burnt red.
    • The inside of Chip's helicopter has an infernal red lighting.
  • Red Herring: Cricket is devastated when he thinks everyone in Big City wants the Greens' house to be destroyed, especially Remy. It's only when Remy admits he never once betrayed Cricket and didn't sign any petition does Cricket realize it's fake and Chip lied to them.
  • The Reveal: The dairy farm that Nancy tried to free cows from turned out to be a rival to the Greens' original farm in the country, resulting in them losing cash and facing debt. Nancy tried to free the cows as revenge, but she ended up getting arrested, and thus, the farm is foreclosed and taken over by a wealthy man.
  • Rousing Speech: Tilly gives one to Bill to encourage him not to give up on the farm, which is broadcast by Channel 11 News all over Big City.
  • The Runt at the End: As the chickens descend on the workers, the last one is a tiny chick.
  • Saving the Orphanage: The Greens' home, and all of Elkins Street, is scheduled to be demolished by Chip and replaced with a new Wholesome Foods.
  • Sir Not-Appearing-in-This-Trailer: Despite having a big part in the previous episode and serving as an aid to the Greens, Gloria is nowhere to be seen in the promo. There's no trace of Mayor Hansock either, despite website descriptions building up to his appearance. Vasquez is also present for the war, but Remy is somehow absent.
  • Shamed by a Mob: Chip was this close to shooing the Greens out of Big City, but the other citygoers stand up for them, protesting against the demolition, and with that, the mayor bans Chip from Big City forever.
  • Shoo Out the Clowns:
    • Tilly's Companion Cube Saxon is completely absent from the entire episode, given the intense nature of the plotline.
    • After the comical and sincere Remy gives his lost boy distraction, he completely disappears for the rest of the episode, to build up for what Chip does next. However, his parents are part of those who stand up for the Greens.
  • Shout-Out: Chip is defeated the same way Team Rocket "blasts off again".
  • Smash Cut: Gloria gets ready to fight a Wholesome Foods guard — cut to her fired and in the garbage chute.
  • Society-on-Edge Episode: All of Elkins Street is threatened to be demolished by Chip, so he can build a new Wholesome Foods Megastore in its place.
  • Special Edition Title: The theme song is corrupted, having a more dour tone as the Greens witness Chip's Community-Threatening Construction go exactly as planned.
  • Status Quo Is God: Subverted big time. The mayor orders everything to get back to the way it was at the end, but now Chip is banned from Big City, Gloria is forced to move in with the Greens, and Big Coffee remains closed.
  • Suddenly Speaking: Alexander's normally silent partner Terry surprisingly speaks for the first time in this episode, as he is shown shouting "WE WANT THE GREENS TO STAY!" along with the rest of the townsfolk.
  • Taking You with Me:
    • After Gloria gets fired for helping Cricket and is put on the garbage chute, she decides she has nothing to lose and drags the security guard down the chute with her.
    • When the mayor tells Chip he's banned from Big City, he tries to actually kill Cricket and his family out of rage.
  • Tears of Remorse: Cricket is crying a little as he is jumping off the megastore roof and is swinging from the banner down to Bill.
  • This Cannot Be!: Chip's reaction when the mayor tells him he's banned.
Chip Whistler: WHAT!? You can't ban me!
  • Trailers Always Spoil:
    • The episode promo spoils the scene where Cricket leaps off the megastore roof to avoid getting killed by Chip's helicopter.
    • The Greens winning the battle and keeping their house, as well as Big Coffee no longer existing, had already been given away by the promo and poster of the first half of the final ten of S2.
  • Trash the Set: Both Big Coffee and the Elkins Building next door are blown up by Chip, and the Greens' house is his final target if the Greens don't fight back.
  • Twinkle in the Sky: Chip's final fate, as his helicopter gets slingshot by power lines trying to mow down the Greens.
  • Uncertain Doom: After Chip is launched into space, it is unknown if he’s Killed Off for Real or not. It's likely he survived, because he survived worse than that before.
  • Undying Loyalty: Remy has never once betrayed Cricket — he's his true best friend and wouldn't let him down any way. This is the first clue that he didn't sign the petition and it's a fraud.
  • Unexpectedly Dark Episode: Big time. Based on Shane Houghton's Twitter posts, this could be considered the darkest episode ever, even more dark than "Chipwrecked" and "Reckoning Ball". What's worse about it is the Greens are about to lose the one true part of their legacy that has been with them for generations. It gets even scarier when Chip goes nuts and Cricket and the Greens (and possibly all their neighbors who stuck up for them) nearly die.
  • Variations on a Theme Song: The theme song is done in a minor key, accompanied by depressing shots of Big Coffee and the apartment complex destroyed, and being replaced by the superstore.
  • Villainous Breakdown: Chip decides to just kill Cricket the Greens with a helicopter when his plans fall apart.
Chip: Cricket Green, you made a fool of me FOR THE LAST TIME! (attempts to chop Cricket with the blades of his helicopter as he looks on in horror)
    Tilly and Bill: CRICKET!!!
Cricket: Oh, boy... This had better WORRRRK!!!! (quickly jumps off the roof to safety)
    [...]
Chip: Now... I can get rid of all the Greens AT ONCE!!!!!!!! (Chip laughs crazily as he attempts to kamikaze the Greens with his helicopter, just before Cricket sees a Fatal Flaw...)
Cricket: Come and get me, chicken! (faces down Chip as the helicopter gets caught in phone lines and stops just inches from his head)
  • We Need a Distraction:
    • While Cricket and Remy go into Chip's office to find proof that he faked the signatures of his petition, Alice and Tilly stay behind to stall the demolition crew and buy them time.
Tilly: Buying time... [Beat] ...is my specialty.
    • When Chip and his guards catch Cricket and Remy in his office, Remy pretends to be a lost kid crying for his daddy, and while the guards comfort him, Cricket gets away.
  • Wham Episode: Even though good has triumphed over evil as the Greens house is saved with the help of their friends, Elkins street is now rebuilt, and Chip is now banned from Big City after revealing his true colors, the building that once housed Big Coffee is now “for rent”, implying that it has remained out of business despite Chip being defeated, and the now-unemployed Gloria is forced to move in with the Greens because she can't afford rent on her rebuilt apartment.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: Keys disappears for the rest of the episode after Cricket jumps off the roof.
  • When the Clock Strikes Twelve: The Greens' house is scheduled to be demolished at the stroke of midnight. Or at least it was before Chip got impatient and started the demolition a few minutes early, figuring it was midnight somewhere.
  • Wingding Eyes: Chip's eyes turn into red and white spirals when he has a Villainous Breakdown.
  • Would Hurt a Child: Sure Chip has tormented the Green children before, but the climax takes the cake as once he's banned, he attempts to kill Cricket.
  • Wounded Gazelle Gambit: Chip pulls one on Nancy so Keys can re-arrest her.
  • You Can't Thwart Stage One: As with the previous episode, Cricket and the Greens are unable to stop Chip from detonating Big Coffee and the Elkins building, and they have no success at preventing the megastore's construction.

Bill's Explanation

The flashback of Nancy trying to liberate cows from the dairy farm only to be arrested from "Uncaged" is not played for laughs when Bill reveals she was doing that because the company was threatening the farm.

How well does it match the trope?
