Just wait 'til the highway party begins.
Gridlocked

When the Greens get stuck in traffic, they find ways to pass the time.

"Gridlocked" contains examples of:

  • Dark Is Not Evil: The scary trucker that had been chasing after Cricket turned out to be not so bad after all, and he was only trying to tell him his horn wasn't working.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: The first truck that Cricket sees is for Wholesome Foods, which officially first appears three episodes later.
  • Here We Go Again!: After an outing in the country, the Greens get back in their truck and head home...and encounter another traffic jam.
  • Shout-Out: When Tilly squirts the mud off the car with the fire engine's nozzle, its license plate number is T8675309.
  • Title Drop: "We're totally gridlocked!"
  • Verbed Title: The first episode to have a title in this format.
  • "Wash Me" Graffiti: Tilly finds a car covered with mud with "Wash Me" written on it. She imagines the car being sad becauses it wants to be washed.

They think Cricket is fun, forgetting completely about their "Mama".
Mama Bird

Tilly finds a nest and hopes the birds will think she’s their mother, but they imprint on Cricket instead.

"Mama Bird" contains examples of:

  • Big "NO!": Cricket screams, "Noooo!" when he realizes he's acting like Bill when left in care of the birds.
  • Failure Montage: Tilly trying to impress the birds when they'd rather hang with Cricket, to her anger.
  • For Want Of A Nail: Had not Cricket been present when the birds hatched, they wouldn’t have imprinted on him in the first place.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: Tilly becomes this toward Cricket.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: Tilly manages to rescue the birds from inside a trash compactor as it is smooshing down.
  • I Ate WHAT?!: Tilly tries eating worms to convince the birds to like them. It comes out as a gross ball and they find it disgusting.
  • Imprinting: Bill warns Cricket and Tilly that the first thing the birds see when they hatch will think is their mother. Tilly spends her time holding onto the nest hoping the birds will imprint on her, but when they hatch, they imprint on Cricket instead, kicking off the conflict of the episode.
  • Rule of Three: Three bluebirds hatch from the nest Tilly found. She names them Michelle, Julie and Barnaby, in that order.
  • Spanner in the Works: Cricket watches the birds hatch along with Tilly, and in return, they see him instead of her.
