- Curb Stomp Cushion: Out of all of Ben's transformations used in this episode, Kickin Hawk is the only alien that is able to make Master Kundo fight seriously by destroying his staff, and even he still gets taken down easily.
- Dead Guy Junior: At the end of the episode, we learn that Max's grandfather was also named "Ben", implying that Ben may have been named after his great-great-grandfather.
- Karmic Transformation: Kundo’s dislike for technology and aliens is rewarded by an alien rebuilding him as a cyborg after his injuries from exposure to Blastonium.
- Named After Somebody Famous: As per Revonnahgander tradition, Rook's younger brother, Young One, is allowed to choose his own name as a rite of passage after his tail falls off. Young One chooses to name himself after Ben.
- O.O.C. Is Serious Business: After Shar tells Rook that Kundo attacked their father in an attempt to stop her from leaving Revonnah to attend the Plumbers' Academy, he definitely doesn't take the news well. He even goes as far as using a contraction, something he never does.Rook: You're staying here.
